I'm a new HC and we have our Senior night next Friday. Just found out that the arrangements for that ceremony are up to me. The mom's who used to do it took the year off so this falls to me. I wouldn't have know this unless I asked the AD, who told me to ask the mom. She then said it's all up to me, have a good time.
In the past this has been a line the players up, read their name & history, hand them a rose, run to the parents, give the rose to the mom/parents, stand with parents, take pictures, clear field, play game.
I'm not opposed to doing this again, but if there is something else that you have done I'd like to hear it.
Thanks

That's the pretty standard ways these are done. Here's what not to do...
Last week we play the final regular season game at another school. The outcome of the game determines who gets into the playoffs. We win, we're in, they're done or they win, they're in, we're done. It's their final home game so they do the whole senior/parent thing. But they do it not before the game or at halftime but AFTER the game. So they lose, their kids are devastated, our kids are celebrating and now their seniors and parents have to stay on the field and be recognized. What a horrible way for the seniors to end the season.

We take individual photos & a group shot with all the seniors & honorees the Day BEFORE the final game. At halftime the honorees are recognized WITHOUT the senior player. It avoids alot of Focus problems for the kids on game day.

We do the same, but we also give each kid a Mini Helmet with their name, #, and the year (2009) on one side. I hear more good things about those helmets than just about anything else.
