That's why you have to teach your kids the rules (ESPECIALLY in the kicking game) and to "Play Hard Until the Whistle!"

Refs blew the call though. The holder picked up the ball while he knee was still on the ground.

I can't see the video, but I gather pretty much what happened from discussion at forum.officiating.com. One possibility that was brought up would've been re-placing the ball for another kick -- but in Fed rules the holder would have to crouch with both knees off the ground for the re-kick.

I'll be honest and say our staff has never coached this point. We did tonight though

Had a similar experience . . . it wasn't the last play of the game, but it was a field goal attempt we blocked. The ball did not cross the los. Offense picked up the ball and scored. Fortunately it was their only score of the game.
We won't let that happen again.

No. If you would have read thats what the other team claimed, we dont know for a fact that is what happend. It is more than likely not the case though. If the kick was blocked I cant imagine the kid is still on his knee and picks up the ball. I also dont believe the officials blew the whistle like the other coach claims, we don't even know if the official raised his hands to signify a score. Sounds to me like sour grapes on the part of the team who blocked the kick...

Not exactly the worst call I've ever seen, but it's still a missed call. Would be a mute point if the defense knew the rules.
