On a lighter note this morning, what (if any ) football video games do you like? I've been playing football video games since I had my old school nintendo way back in 1988. Super Play Action Pass all the way to Madden 2010 now.
For me its still old school Tecmo SUPER BOWL ( the sequal to Tecmo Bowl). It was the first game that had subs and you could run 8 plays(!). I was money with Steve Deberg and the Chiefs.
Also a big fan of College Football 1997 (I used to school people with the option).
Whats your favorite? Do you use things like play book creator to draw stuff up? Do you play franchises and dynasties? Or when you do have deversion time you dont want to spend it playing games?

QB Attack w/ Mike Ditka
Joe Montana Football for the PC FPS Pro Football for the PC
but, to be in this century, the NCAA series by EA is fine - for as close to perfect as it is, the logic of the defenders drives me up the wall (I think the NFL 2k4 series, I believe, had some fairly realistic feel to their defense / offense)

The NFL 2K series was pretty good; also the competition made the Madden game better. Now, Madden kinda rests on its laurels. I hear you can't create plays on the newer versions. The last one I bought with McNabb on the cover still let you create and test out your own plays, which is by far my favorite part.

my favorite was NFL 98 with Tim Brown on the cover, it was for sega genesis. After you selected teams you got to choose how good your team was. You could increase your team speed, power, accuracy, basically everything, and you could lower your opponents... It is fun when your RB is just faster than the whole defense and yu can just do laps around the field without being touched.
I would just get a pitch and go all the way to the 1 yard line, then run backwards to my own endzone and run around in the end zone for a bit then go 99 yards and stop at the 1 again. I would just go all over the field, sprinting around the defense. It was fun when i was 10

Any of the 2K series I loved my Dreamcast! I wish the NFL wouldn't have sold licensing rights to EA the Madden series is getting stale.
It was way ahead of the times. Played online for a few years before any other console. Also it had a keyboard and mouse peripheral for FPS which no console even offers today.

I liked the 2K series just for the fact you could substitute anyone you wanted in any position. Made for some fun!

Intellivision football 10 yard fight atari M Network football Odessy football was "da bomb"
tecmo bowl was great. nfl gameday "call an ambulance"
once the games got to be so complicated that you had to spend your life at them , they lost their luster for me. tecmo bowl had it right.

Any of the NCAA Football games are great...creating a dynasty, recruiting, fighting off NCAA violations.....what could be better than thinking you could build your alma mater into a dynasty?
