After this weekend’s games I was wondering who you thought stood out?
I was impressed with [glow=red,2,300]Ole Miss[/glow], they played hard and seemed to do a lot of things well technically. I see good things for them this season.
Was pleasantly surprised with [glow=red,2,300]Notre Dames[/glow] Defense and Game (I know Michigan will be a much bigger challenge for the D) but that QB at Nevada is a real athletic kid I was impressed they kept him off the board!
Surprised [glow=red,2,300]LSU[/glow] didn’t roll over Washington, thought for sure they would have beat them by more than the 8 points.

Pleasantly surprised w/
Boise State - knew they could knock off the big dogs, but they're starting the season ranked high and fought off a big dog in Oregon
Impressed w/
FSU and MIAMI - Wow they looked good...holy schmolees
Surprised w/
UVA - WTF happened man? William & Mary...are you serious Hoss?

I thought Mizzou looked good considering they were replacing Maclin, Daniel, Coffman on offense. Defense looked pretty good also.

William & Mary plays Michigan in three weeks, they beat the Wolverines and I will be really concerned!
Big big win for them, I didn't catch any of the game did they play up or did Virginia just play horrible?
Any Air Force Fans out there? I have always liked them since my days in Colorado. My favorites in Mt West Division by far, I know they had a big 72-0 victory this weekend but didn't catch any highlights. . . what offense they running these days?

even though Northern Illinois lost to Wisconsin I was impressed by how hard and the never give up attitude NIU had.

Cincinnati was the most impressive to me, their offense seemed to be firing on all cylinders. Navy was precise and did not give up against OSU. Boise handled the Ducks in an easy fashion. I was most impressed with the types of athletes on the field in the Miami FSU game last night. It would appear that both of those programs can still recruit. The big suprise was BYU.

Navy was impressive in the loss for sure. Was BYU lucky? I guess we will find out in 2 weeks when an angry Florida State heads to Utah.
Miami not being ranked in top 25 was clearly a major oversight. Jacory sure looked cool as a cucumber in that final drive didn't he!
Miami's first four games are their toughest of the year, they go 4-0 and they could have a huge season!

BYU for me. Being from Utah let me tell you, that defense that was playing Sat. is a totally different than the one playing last year. Last year that defense moved slower didn't blitz much and couldn't cover. To give you an idea, at the end of games they would rush just 3 and drop 8 instead of attacking like they did against OU. That defense Sat. was flying around and hitting people. Blitzing and taking chances. Helps to have corners that can run.
Most BYU fans feelings were just don't get embarrassed on Sat. Hoping to stay within 21 pts. I think most people were feeling that way. And to think they won with 4 turnovers to OU.

Missouri. Gabbert is going to be a player. Yes he will have his ups and downs, but by the time he is a senior WOW. Dario Alexander showed why he was ahead of Maclin on the depth chart at one point.
FSU/Miami was a great game. Does Bobby B even coach anymore? Is he just a figure head at this point?

Mizzou has a pretty tough season after week 4. I bet the Nevada, and Iowa State games will be amazing. Good matchups for them.
As for Bobby B what was that they said before the game regarding taking wins away from him? My son was jumping all over me I missed it.

Ok, since it's "my team"
[glow=red,2,300]AUBURN[/glow]
They "only played" La Tech. However, they seemed mentally recovered from last year's debacle, and they played solidly. Malzahn's offense put on a show (by the standards set at Auburn recently at least) and had 2 100+ yard rushers, one 92 yard TD pass play that set an Auburn record for longest play from scrimmage in Auburn history, and over 500 yards of total offense with a pretty balanced attack. Chris Todd appeared healthy, and poised.
BYU won fair and square...that's football.
I think Rich Rod set some things straight at Mich.
I think I was most impressed with the way Navy battled OSU. Not sure what that says about Navy or OSU, but I always love it when the service academies do well against "real teams".

Ole Miss did not impress me. Came out very sloppy. Had a string of TDs off turnovers late in the game; Memphis's O looked even worse.
Offensively, both Miami and FSU look improved. Whether either team can translate that into success is something I've yet to see. I thought Virginia Tech's defense was disappointing against Alabama, but their offense was so inept that I can't entirely blame them -- they were on the field the whole game.
Michigan and ND aren't there yet either, but both showed big strides. Especially ND's defense and Michigan's OLine.
I also liked what I saw of Purdue's run game. Their OC is a guy named Gary Nord who coached with Howard Schnellenberger for a long time (and was one-time coach of UTEP) who is a very good coach. Top two rushers in the Big 10 after week one are both Boilermakers. That doesn't happen very often.
Mizzou also impressed me. Manhandled Illinois. Teams like Wisconsin and Iowa, they disappointed me but maybe I should say their opponents impressed. Texas Tech did not look very sharp in the opener. The new QB looked ok against a FCS school but he threw three picks.
USC - OSU is going to be a heck of a game, or at least we'll find out a lot about both teams. I was not impressed by OSU's offense against Navy (or defense). I'll be writing about this game for Yahoo this week, specifically USC's D versus Pryor. We'll see how they scheme against OSU's relatively traditional O + mobile QB, and how much Tressel decides to put the ball in the hands of his best player. To take it back to Xs and Os, still can't believe how much two-shell USC played against Vince Young, I expect lots of Cover 1 with robber looks spying the QB. OSU will probably try lots of speed option and then mix that in with their power stuff. Still need to think about it more.

Okay the games I watched -
Oregon/Boise - I thought Oregon were awful but Boise D played well.
Maryland/Cal - Cal dominated and it could have been an awful lot more.
Navy/Ohio St - At one point I thought OSU were going to walk it. Fair play to Navy for staying in there and then making the game interesting towards the end. I love watching Navy's offense - I'll be even happier to catch GA Techs next 2 games on Thursday night!
Mizzou/Illinios - Mizzou looked very good. New QB did an excellent job.
Ole Miss/Memphis - Poor game which was much closer than scoreline suggest and riddled with mistakes on both sides. Jevon Snead seemed to be back to his for of early last year - which isn't pretty!
Bama/VT - VT weren't very good and if it wasn't for some special teams and some silly mistakes from Bama this could have been an absolute stroll. Bama picked up a lot of yards later on, especially on the gound. Not sure if this was due to the big bama oline wearing down the VT D or it was just the fact that the VT D had been on the field all night.
GA/Okie St - thought this was a so-so game. I think it will need a couple more games under each teams belts to really see the significance of this result. Don't know if it would have made a difference but thought the call on the GA safety was very harsh!
Unfortunately I missed the FSU/Miami game as I din't think it would be up to much. What a mistake that was!

if navy continue to throw the ball, theyll lose a lot more than they'll win.

Boise = Hopefully Oregon isn't that bad. I assume they are not, so Boise must be pretty good.
Utah State = My alma matter got a lot better too. Lost to Utah by 2 TD's which is 4 TD's closer than the last 10 years has been
Washington = No-life last year for UW, they came out with fire and passion and gave my Tigers a run for their money.
BYU = Not a surprise... I have been getting crap all summer long for saying BYU would beat OU. Thought protection would be an issue due to lack of OL and BYU's front is always tough. Too bad for Bradford, but wasn't a shock that BYU only allowed 13.

Air force played a girl's team but you gotta love Calhoun racking up 72.he is my new offensive hero.really bright guy.very innovative offense.we'll have to see what happens when they play a men's team. Miami's QB is the real deal.very cool dude under pressure.Bowden didn't look well to me when they showed him.hope he's OK.

Miami also scored 30 on FSU last year. I'm not overly impressed yet.

Can JMU beat Maryland to give the ACC 3 losses to FCS teams? I think so
