Two true Freshman from Texas look to play significant roles on the Nebraska Cornhusker Offense this Fall.
Rex Burkhead from Plano has been named the #2 "I" Back. NU always plays 2 kids at that position a lot. NU coaches praised his football knowledge, coachability as well as his athleticism.
Cody Green from Dayton was named the #2 QB. He arrived in the Spring, graduating early and only 17 at the time. Again coaches praised his maturity, football knowledge and commitment level.
The Athletic period, Spring Football, year round football, weather, coaching salaries, competition and coaching expertise in Texas seem to make this transition from HS to College much easier than kids coming from many other areas of the country.

And don't forget Dave, they still play "real" football in Texas, using the same NCAA rules, ;D while the rest of us are playing......well....something like football, I guess?

It seems both are pretty happy about seeing the field as true freshmen, with an offense that finished 12th Nationally in Total Offense last year. Will be interesting to see how well both of them do. More info out today on how football "savey" these two are, again speaking very well of the coaching they both got.
