Indiana got it's season kicked off last Friday.
I was wondering, for those who have had their first game, what you found out about your team (good and bad), HOW you determined those facts, and WHAT you plan to do to enhance your play based on those facts.

For us:
By using our OL grading system (which backed up our "just lookin' at it" gut feelings), we have a weak link on the OL.
Everyone else was 20-30% higher than this kid.
So, we have a 3-headed battle this week for that last spot. Basically, the best pass blocker will play, as we don't ask our OT's to do more than reach block and seal off. Our splits are wide enough it doesn't matter if we get movement from them or not.
We were +4 in turnovers this week. I believe this stat will be most correlated with us winning games.
The good news is our defense forced 6. The bad news is our offense gave up 2 in the red zone.
We will focus on red zone efficency this week, keeping it simple when we get down there, and executing.

Highlight video of week 1.
Some of you guys and I have discussed our Jet Sweep and it's compliments. There are couple shots of that.
Additionally, I've had many conversations with people on here about "thinking" trips. We hit bubble screen a couple times out of trips when we had 2 on 3.

The video should help you to visualize the insights we as a staff gathered.
Turnovers were big in this one.
Can you spot the OL position we need to do something about? (even in the highlights it doesn't look good)

Looks like good stuff coach. What do you tell your WR to do on the bubble looks like they are both heading up the sideline?
Was it a guard, I didn't get to watch the whole thing, but one of them was standing there clueless on a couple of snaps....

We cross block our bubble. #1 cracks force #2 basically runs a wheel route to block the CB This is great when we run a triangle stretch with #3 as flare control....the flat defense tries to fly up to avoid the crack when he sees bubble action, then we curl #1 in the zone behind him. We had trouble with kids free-lancing our Jailbreak screen....could be it.......

Our number one issue as a dw team is with our center. he was not firing out as he snapped and he was overmatched. our second issue was with our qb, he was making up his own backfield actions after handing off which destroys series football.
defensively, our 3 techs were (as usual) having issues staying out of the A gap.
Those three things are the focus for our practice .

We run our up and back outside screens that way.

We had a week 0, pre-season game format scrimmage and we found:
- our kids are struggling to align to TE trades and motions (46 Bear D)
- Our QB is good at reading on Veer and Tackle trap, but for some reason he struggles reading on Counter GT
- Defenses that stem and shift their defense are a bitch. Stemming D-Linemen caused alot of confusion for our O-Line (ANY ADVICE?)

Stemming D-Linemen caused alot of confusion for our O-Line (ANY ADVICE?) I would add a DUMMY play. Basically trying to draw the defense offsides. The cool thing about it (for no huddle guys at least) is even if they do not jump offsides, you get to see what they are steming or rolling to..........

Is your center having trouble blocking back, or at the POA?
