What do you prefer?
What are your experiences with composite?
Pro's/Con's of each?
Should we change from leather GST to composite GST???

I was wondering the same thing. This year we ordered 8 GST Leather and 2 composite just to try them out. Boy, do they seem "grippy."

The composite will get more slippery than leather when wet.

composite is a good practice ball, it recovers from wet weather better long term, but it becomes unusable in the rain, as it absorbs no water, and makes the grip very slick. Leather absorbs water retaining gripability, but the recovery after wet weather is worse.

The composite will get more slippery than leather when wet. Wev tried them couple of years ago and that's why we got rid of them. Too slippery. Kids hated them.

As a former receiver, I hate, hate, hate composite balls....Plus, they had a tendency to bounce off my rock hard hands!
Kids sometimes like them because they dont hurt when they are getting broken in....babies.

What do you play games with? Why would you expose your receivers/qb's/kickers to something they wouldn't face in the game? Use the game balls.

I personally feel that catching a ball is a skill and should be accomplished no matter what the object (type of football) being use. We play with Leather GST's and QB's will throw them in indys and use them in Group/Skelly-O/Team situations. If the QB is involved...he's using the GST ball. BUT that being said RB's & WR's in drills/indys will use Wilson TR rubber footballs to practice receiving, handoffs, etc. Some are slick, some are tacky...but the point is made that it doesn't matter....tennis ball, leather football, rubber football, bowling ball...catch what is thrown.
