We start our season on Monday. Had two coaches quit due to selfish reasons. I am the OC. They were my WR coach and my RB coach.
WR Coach was having issues at home most of spring and summer. Whenever the HC and tried to bring him in on decisions about his position he never returned the call. HC made the choice to change some routes and when he did show up went nuts about it. Then complain 3 days before spring he felt he didn't have enough say in the direction of the program. Was supposed to meet the kids for a trip to 7 on 7 tourney while I went on early to coaches meeting. Supposed to take up forms and be in charge. Didn't show. Showed up halfway through first game and sat on the sidelines playing on his iphone. Left before it ended. Missed the info about adding a 7 on 7 that next Tuesday. Monday blew up about not receiving an email about it. Nice so far huh? Wait. Shows up at the school when we are going to caravan to the 7 on 7. 6 kids are short a ride. He and another coach are alone in his truck. He says that he can't take them because they are going to the bar afterwards. HC and I were going to ride together. We split the kids and take them. Backup QB wasn't going to get as many reps at 7 on 7. HC tells him (good athlete) to ask WR coach for reps out there. WR coach goes off about losing choices on his position and quits.
RB coach was never there. Stood around a lot. Spent most of his time drawing up plays he saw on Madden or Saturday. When he and I and the HC sat down he wanted to change everything we do as an offense. He want to run the Toss out of under center. That's it. No system or anything. (We have been a spread team for 6 years). Just go under center because we need a Toss play. HC nixed (Thankfully) and he quit.
Both talked of caring and being a big part of the program. Both left and went to the rival high school.
Not sad really. Just venting. Will do what we have to do I guess. Kids are ticked. Can't wait for that game.
I am tough to deal with. I want my coaches involved always. Be on time. Sell out. I know. It is too much.
