What are 3 to 5 points of emphasis you give your offensive and defensive coordinators that you feel are crucial to your programs success?

not a HC but this is what i will stress when i do become a HC
Offense: 1. Ball security is #1 priority.- nothing changes a game more than a fumble 2. Control the ball with the run game, but throw just enough to keep them honest 3. We will get our base down series down as close to perfect as possible before we move on to adding in more plays 4. Every base play needs a counter to it( But dont install it til you perfect your base) 5. Get our playmaker(s) the ball no matter what, move them around if you have to
Defense: 1. Stop the Run- this is all that matters (unless you are playing a team that airs it out 60 times a game, we just dont have any here. Pretty much every team will run it all day if they can
2. Stress 11 man Pursuit every second of every day. The backbone of every good defense is their pursuit. Every good D has it, and every sh!tty D lacks it
3. Be able to play at least 2 coverages, and do them well
4. Work on tackling early and often (IMO you can never have enough reps, form, open field, and angle tackling... NEVER)

Offense (double wing): 1) Control the clock and don't take unnecessary risks 2) Protect the football 3) Everyone blocks 4) Quality over quantity (our playbook is pretty small)
Defense (3-5-3) 1) Stop the run and force the offense to pass 2) Realistic and challenging indy time. No busywork drills! Work read steps, run fits, hand placement, block destruction, pass drops, and leverage. 3) Everyone tackles 4) Quality over Quantity (again, the playbook is pretty small)

Offense: No Turnovers! If you turn the ball over you can't score! 3rd down Efficiency Run the Football...find something and stick with it until they stop it if you win two out of three you will win a very high percentage of your games
Defense: Turnovers. Get the ball back for your offense and get off the field Tackling 11 hats to the ball every play Work turnover circuit and Tackling Open field every day

1) Tool Box analogy 2) we do what we do and we do it well 3) put kids in position, let them learn it and master it
Goes for both sides of the ball.

Offense: 1. Excution- Being perfect and having everyone on the same page (espically up front) 2. Being aggresive and unpredictable- showing multiple looks, throwing on run downs and atttacking the whol field (film is key here) 3. Ball Security
Defense: 1. Total Prepardeness: Know the opponent completly and in pre season show every look so kids, not coaches, have the ability to adjust on the fly 2. Aggressiveness- attack from all angles, play downhill. 3. Tackling- the most underrated and under drilled part of football

I'm not a list guy: Stop the run and run the ball and good things will happen to you. Preach the line, you will only go as far as your line can take you. Don't talk about the Backs, they get enough publicity. You are not here to be the kids friend, you are their leader. Preach the line, (did I say that already?) Make sure that you and your coaches are on the same page. Cut out all the dead wood, do not tolerate cancer(disloyalty) Teach one play at a time, take your play book-reduce it by 1/3, then throw 1/2 of the rest out. Love the kids, they are people-and people is all we have. Sorry I couldn't be anymore help than that. OJW

defensivecoordinator 1) no big plays allowed. make the offense earn it 2) attack what they do best whether a scheme or player 3) put our kids in position to be successful. don't ask a player to do something that he can't do.

Offense: 1. Don't lose the game 2. Control the ball 3. Gain field position 4. SCORE!!
Defense: 1. Stop the run 2. Stop the bomb 3. Control short passing game
Pretty general strategies. More important is HOW (tactics) are you going to be able to accomplish them.
And they can change with personnel-character of your team. Two years ago we had 26 "drives" where we scored in three plays or fewer - not much ball control there.
