Guys -
I'm trying to do a search for any posts on Cover 6 defense but when I type "Cover 6" into the search box, I get a message that says that the number 6 was removed because it was too short.
Any better search terms I could use instead?

delta-- cover 6 is different things to different people. What are you considering cover 6...and then type that in (for example, 3 under 3 deep, or 1/4 1/4 1/2, or some type of weakside rotated 3, or whatever.

is it just me, or does the search function now only dig no deeper than just 2009? I put in criteria of 950 - 600 days (with a large range of results) and only get about a handful of threads (all 2009)

My understanding is that it is a version of Cover 3 that is pretty effective against spread formations. I believe brophy has posted about it on occasion.

like coachd said, it can mean a lot of different things. I believe the NCAA "C6" is most circles is a weak rotation. what you might be referring to is what we've run called "C6" (that we got from ISU years ago) coachhuey.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=secondary&action=display&thread=26192that is primarily strong rotation (but we can go either way) Yeah, I agree....the search function can be quirky.....and it can be frustrating if you don't know what exactly you are looking for ('6' doesn't help much, but it is exactly what you're looking for....yeah, I know).... I keep getting

brophy -
That is EXACTLY what I was looking for...thanks!
Next question...I know that we shouldn't get wrapped up in "names", but why exactly is this called Cover 6? The reason I ask is that sometimes, when you can explain to kids why something is called by a certain name, they can make more of a connection with it.

good question - it isn't C0,C1,C2,C3,C4....so, maybe the most logical sense would be for it to be "C5" (C2 weak+C3 strong = C5?). Since it wasn't a 4+ high zone coverage, I suppose any digit would do. I've seen fire zone coverages named "C6", and to me that actually makes sense (3 deep 3 under). I just used C6 because it is what it was called when we stole it from Iowa State
