We have all our kids (180 to 220 kids 8-9 year olds) rotate to a station usually 8-11 head coaches each with a station.
We all have different drills to run. 2 days with no pads then 3 days with full pads. This is our evaluation time.
What drills do you suggest or run that are good and help in your evaluation of talent?
Thanks

We've never had tryouts, we always get what shows up. At that young age, I'd look for mental and physical maturity, aggressiveness, coordination and coach-ability.

Wow that is a good amount of 8-9 year olds. In the League that I coach in we have age groups set up by weight 6-8 max weight is 85 lbs, 7-9max weight is 93lbs 8-10 max weight is 113lbs, and 9-11 is 125lbs for non older but lighter(OBL or also known as PLAY BACKS) players . What is the normal for us is the 8 year old that can make weight for the 6-8 team plays there a 9 year old that makes weight for the 7-9 team plays there. The thought process is the older the player in the younger age group gives you as a coach a leg up on the other team. Than the Teams have there own break down drills for player positions on the team.
