Do any of you coaches have any experience with GNC's AMP Pro Performance line of nutritional supplements? I'm not advertising here, just trying to find some reasonably objective information.

Just not really a fan of any supplements. I know some of our kids are going to try them but I feel its literally money down the drain. We emphasize eating right (spend a lot of time on nutritional education) and working hard.

As a powerlifter with my own friends at the big boys gym I know them well. As a coach in the present climate talking to players at the school gym I don’t know {censored}.

I don't really know much about them, but if you are going to talk to your kids about using supplements I would suggest that they purchase one of various collegiate series supplements. The reason being that if one of your players is using a supplement and they turn into a stud and want to play college ball you want to make sure they aren't taking a banned substance. The collegiate series supplements have been developed using the rules of the NCAA and are what the trainers and stregth and condition coaches at NCAA schools give to their players. The medical staff at the University of Illinois gave a very nice presentation on that very subject this year at the IHSFCA Winter Clinic.

coachguy,
Are these findings available anywhere online? Or do you know where I can get a copy of the presentation (assuming it was in PowerPoint or something equivalent)? I'm trying to find some information about these supplements (including the collegiate series you mentioned - thanks for that) that's not marketing/advertising. I seem to be having some difficulty locating actual data. I'd even settle for a list of the NCAA banned substances, so I can compare it with the ingredients on the containers.
I have a couple of players that have started taking the AMP Pro Performance line (Amplified Mass XXX, Amplified Wheybolic Extreme), and I want to be able to have some real data that I can present them with.
Any direction would be appreciated.
Thanks~
