Hey everyone... our last day of school in my district is June 11th, and my wife and I are going on our honeymoon the next morning. We are flying to Miami early in the morning, and spending 2 days there before going on a Cruise.
Anyone in the Miami area that wants to get together for lunch or whatnot, let me know and we can meet up somewhere. I'll be there June 12th in the afternoon, until June 14th in the afternoon when the cruise leaves.
Also any suggestions on where to go while I'm in the area would be greatly appreciated as well.

I think this is an excellent idea. the wife has to know her place and that place is #2 right behind coaching football. any woman who marries a coach needs to know this. Her man will be go long hours and it may seem he has a mistress but it is really the seductiveness of coaching football.
as they say in the USMC. If the USMC wanted you to have a wife they would have issued you one.

I see nothing wrong with looking someone up. Heck, my dad played some JUCO baseball after high school and caught a double header the day after he got married. I have many coaches coming to my wedding next month, so I think some ball will be discussed!!!!

I'm getting married the afternoon of our opening scrimmage. Wife picked the date, accepted the fact that there would be no honemoon, and that I would spend 6 hours with the coaches the next day. I guess I got a keeper.

My wife is a head basketball coach, so during football she understands the time and energy that it takes, because she does the same thing with basketball. We both teach and coach, so that is why we got married over spring break and are waiting 2 1/2 months to go on the homeymoon.
The 7 days we are on the cruise we probably won't go very far from the cabin, but she thinks it will be cool if we meet someone for lunch or dinner while we're in MIA.

cq, I was going to say, from personal experience, I recommend highly to not mix football and honeymoon, but as long as she thinks it's cool (plus, she's a coach), you should be alright. Congrats and best of luck to you.

cq - my wife is a XC/TF head coach and we've been together (teaching and coaching) for 26 years. If you want to hear our tips for staying sane, along with out biggest "coaching mistakes" we'd be happy to have dinner and drinks when you're in town. We work in Miami but live just north. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Hey coach, Congrats...and wish you well. As for Miami well it's changed a lot since I went to collage there, but Key Biscayne is very nice , where they used to hold the old Super stars competitions,,,,,nice beaches etc.. Miami metro Zoo is a good place to visit also, Heck while your there get down to see U of Miami, campus has really changed.... And if you don't mind a little ride get out to the EVER GLADES...take an air boat ride , won't forget it... And enjoy and have fun

If you are in the area give me a call. All day saturday in Miami, then get on a boat on sunday afternoon for a week.

It's true - I am cqmiller's pre-cruise tour guide for Miami. Since his new bride and my wife of 25 years will be along for lunch the "usual" football coaches itinerary will have to be adjusted just a bit but I am available for guided tours in South Florida - click on www.footballbeersandbeaches for packages and prices

My wife and I met cqmiller and his bride Saturday for a great day including lunch at a nice Cuban restaurant (Bongos) followed by a trip to Ft. Lauderdale's famous beach (nice scenery!) and a few drinks at the Elbow Room. Next we had a couple of Giant Margaritas at the Sangria Cafe, and then wrapped things up with beers and wings at Sharkey's in downtown Miami. CQ is a fine young man - we also talked a little football - and his wife (also a coach) is definitely a keeper!

Thanks for showing my wife and I around southern Florida last week fbdoc. We had a great time! I'm sitting at the Ft. Lauderdale airport right now, getting caught up on all my emails and the 7 days of things on this board that I've missed. Coming back from the 3rd world and I'm 1000 miles behind.
My wife and I look forward to seeing you again on our next trip out to FLA or whenever you guys come out to San Jose to visit.
Thanks again

Glad you had a good time! We are planning our own cruise next month. With the AFCA Convention in Orlando this coming January you have a good reason to visit Florida again. See you there.

We had lunch with CQ and his wife before they flew back. Very nice couple, but I think they had enough drinks on the trip already as I was drinking Abita purple haze alone CQ, nice meeting you two and hope to see you again.
