I'm looking to get a new hat for the upcoming football season(one that will keep the sun off!) and was wondering if anyone had some good ideas. Thanks!

Bucket hats. I love them because, they keep the sun off you face and neck and are great when it rains for the same reasons.

I've used a cloth "bucket" hat and the "Nick Saban" style Straw hat. This track season I used a Cloumbia sportswear bucket that I got at Bass Pro Shops. Lightweight and it breathes well - Its a keeper!

Columbia makes a ton of sun shade clothing and hats.
Also try outdoor/hiking stores.

Our colors are royal blue and silver. I got one like this a few years ago at an airshow that has the camo in different shades of blue. Man, it's got some miles on it. The kids even wonder what's up if I ever have a different hat on.

Our equipment guy last week had not come up with our baseball hats...first game, so I had no cap that matched the teams logo or color...so I wore a cap ala (felt like a sin) Bear Bryant, but the modern ones I picked up at Target when I was back in the States, have a Black and and Beige, wore beige ...I know yikes!, but we had about 1600 Fans and the D gave up a total of 85 yards period, the Fans loved the Hat and I am superstitious and we have another game this week and I am at my wits end if I should continue to wear this garb!

I actually have never worn a hat in 13 years.. well.. maybe a occasional ball cap.. but nothing on a consistant basis.
Maybe I should start.

Here is Florida in the afternoon, it's almost impossible to stand the sun without a cap. I usually wear just the standard ball cap, but am thinking about wearing something larger. Now, when I'm mowing, I'm always wearing a "farmer's hat" but not on the field. Maybe I should, I'm old enough for it. Coach Bowden "the original" wears this often:
