Ever had a kid fake an injury?
Dont worry, there is a sport for kids like that I guess in soccer it is a little cottage industry:

No but I always get a kick out of the hero walk - Kid just got tackled or made a block and starts draggin' a leg along, or dipping a shoulder, gets mama all worried and then by the next play he's had a miraculous recovery and is full speed. Always cracks me up...

Those kids have a very bright future in professional soccer. Quite often they take these guys off in stretchers only to have them return within 10 minutes, more phony than "rasslin".

These 8 yr olds love rasslin. If you ever want to bring wondering 8 yr old minds together and get them to focus on what your teaching start your sentence off with "It's like Hulk Hogan once told me......" LOL

I remember at that age for me it was real! I gotta hand it to those guys, yeah, it's scripted for a male soap opera and all that, but those dudes do some crazy things and take a physical pounding, many of 'em 5 nights a week.

On a serious note, I experienced this once and the kid was forced to be there to live his father's dream. You should ask yourself does this kid really want to be here, and if he is made to be there?

Thats a good point cmpd, who's gonna fake an injury when they wanna participate in something? Now that you mention it, I'm thinking right now, whether or not I wanna participate in "working at my job tomorrow".....gosh, my knee really hurts.....back feels like it might be going out.....got a bad....cough cough....cold coming on.....This idea could work? ;D

Know this is Youth Forum, but coached a kid a couple years ago that would give you an idea of what these kids could look like at High school level. Kid was a sohpmore and we were playing a very big and physical team. He's terrified and on the kickoff he catches it and gets tackle. Lays there screaming and crying saying his ACL is torn he can't move his leg. They cart him off in the ambulance. Following Monday he's back and booming punts with the leg that was destroyed on Friday.
Same kid a year later, so he's a junior now. We are playing a team that we end up beating 49-6. He's running the ball early in the game at this point player has had some big runs, but they are sticking him when they catch him. So early in the 2nd quarter he gets tackled and starts complaining his neck is hurt and will not get up off the field. EMT's come out will not let him move, strap his rearend neck and all down to a board. They cut his jersey off of him and he gets to ride in the ambulance strapped to the board for a nice 35 minute ride. Coach that went with him said he cried and complained the whole way about wanting to get up. EMT told him if he didn't be quite they would give him an I.V. and medicate him to calm him down. Once again he was back on Monday feeling good. Needless to say the player never cried wolf again.

Had a player lie on the ground during a football game. Said his arm was hurt. I saw the tackle. If that tackle hurt his arm enough to make him not get up again, this kid had no business in football gear. He wasn't even hit on his arm. He'd put his arm out to break his fall. His mother came running out onto the field like he'd been in WWII. The kid gets up and is limping while holding his arm out for his mother to see. There's a difference between being hurt and being injured. And, parents had already been warned during the meeting not to come on the field for any reason. If their kid is hurt, we'll get him up and going. If he's injured, there's paramedics there. They would just get in the way. On the sideline, I told him, "Son, if I ever see you just lay on the ground until your mommy has to come out on the field and treat you like a baby, you'll spend the rest of the game sitting beside her in the stands. You obviously need her attention more than you need ours." During half-time, I repeated our policy to both players and parents- including the part about where the player will be spending the rest of the game. Needless to say, that kid- nor his mother- ever pulled that stunt again.
