"you're not getting any better looking, so you might as well be strong." I wrote that on the mirror in the weightroom (we only have a small one...mayb 2 feet by 3 feet....) Some of the kids didn't get it at first.... PRICELESS!!!

"GO HARD OR GO HOME" - I've always wanted to use that one, but I was afraid they would go home. There is actually a song from a Christian Rap artist named Lecrae and one of his songs is titled "Go Hard" and It actually says "Go hard or Go home...." in the lyrics.... would probably be a great theme song for the weight room to go with that!

We always end our breakdowns with one of the guys saying "NO EXCUSES!" and I think it's catching on with our committed weight room attendees.

The Road to Charlottesville (or wherever your state championship is played) starts here. We're also using "Back to Charlottesville" as a slogan for the season

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'.

The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war. - George S. Patton.
Or as my dad (a Marine Sgt. Major) used to say as his basic slogan on life: "Suck it up."

I also liked the poster that said "The beatings will continue until morale improves". Not an effort thing but that other poster reminded me of that.

University of Arkansas has it set up where they can only light up one rack at a time like lifting under a spotlight when maxing. So "Spotlight", also If someone does a personal best I believe they have a large bell in the middle of the weightroom, they are then allowed to go "Ring the Bell"

“Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be brave and strong.” -1 Corinthians 16:13 “So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 “But endurance must do its complete work, so that we may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.” –James 1:4 "A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things." Matthew 12:35 translated (first heard through Jon Randles) "What comes out of a man, must first be in the man."

Any of you Braves, Chiefs, etc might like this one!
From the Movie ACT OF VALOR: At the end, it had this amazing poem by Native American Shawnee Chief, Tecumseh.
With that I give you Tecumseh:
"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion;respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.
Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.
When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home."
