senior bench squat 295 395 255 385 junior 235 370 185 275
soph 235 320 205 300
fresh 185 265 165 260
These numbers were going into last season. I arrived in Feb 08 no weight room ethic at all. I really only had access to 9th and 10th graders last year as JV Coach. Now I am varsity Coach and we now have more of a weight room mentality in our whole sports dept.

Don't have all the numbers in front of me, but I can recall some highlights.
This is 2A Alabama HS ball.
Strongest Senior: Bench - 355 Squat - 385 (Kid is 6'1", 260 lbs, and was recruited by Troy to play center and longsnap, ended up signing a D2 baseball scholly)
Senior QB: Bench - 245 Squat - 335 (set a state record for completions in a game with 38, passed for 281 yards a game average, and is 3rd all time in state history in pass attempts and completions.)
Strongest Junior: Bench - 285 Squat - 405 Notable Junior: We have a kid who won the state powerlifting championship both his freshman and sophomore years for his weight class. He's 5'2", and 132 lbs. He benches 225, squats 345, and cleans 225. He's a real freak for his size.
Strongest Sophomores: We had a pair of sophomore running backs who squatted in the 350-365 range. The highest bench I can think of for this group is 215.
I can't think of any notable freshmen off the top of my head. We only had a couple that played this year.

Holy $hit - you've got a soph QB who can bench 275 lbs? Does Urban Meyer know about this? Yep. Also...he's 5'9, 195#, lines up in a 3 pt. stance and is our lead blocker on most plays (we are Single Wing). Good arm though... probably the best pure thrower we've had in almost 10 years... but if he plays in college, he'll go DII/NAIA and will be a LB. Still Florida does run a more "fan friendly" Single Wing... maybe they should get someone up here

I would really appreciate knowing the enrollment of these schools so we can talk apples to apples.

I would really appreciate knowing the enrollment of these schools so we can talk apples to apples. According to the AHSAA, our enrollment number is 168.8. This includes the 1.35 multiplier that private schools in Alabama get.

We are a co-op with an enrollment of 396. 55-60 usually out for football.
Just out of curiosity, I've never seen one of these powerlifting meets. Is this something you do at your school? Can it be used as a fundraiser? If anyone can fill me in, I would really appreciate it. It sounds like a cool, meathead thing to do for the players who enjoy lifting.

We are a school of about 560 students, 260 boys, competing in a conference in which 6 of 8 other schools are regionalized and have over 1000 kids. I am going into my second year as HC and there was no lifting program in place with the previous HC. This is where we are right now.
Top 3 seniors... Bench Squat Power Clean Dead Lift 225/225/215 385/375/345 215/205/185 450/515/385
Top 3 Juniors...I only have 3!!! 205/165/110 365/265/155 205/155/115 460/285/175
Top 3 Sophomores... 205/195/185 295/295/285 185/185/175 385/350/345
I have brought the 8th grade class who are playing freshman football next year to the weightroom to learn how to strength and condition. I would highly recommend you bringing the 8th grade class up. The 8th graders have been coming for about 7 weeks now and I see tremendous improvement. They are learning proper techniques, you see them make progress (getting low, form, etc.), and it is great to see older kids build a camradare with the younger kids, and it great to see the confidence the younger kids are starting to build.

Freshman Bench 265 Clean 255 Squat 400 + Bench 230 Clean 215 Squat 350
So. Bench 275 Clean 215 Squat 400 Bench 230 Clean 220 Squat 350
Jr. Bench 325 Clean 265 Squat 400 + Bench 300 Clean 265 Squat 400 +
SR. Only one and not strong
Squats are full squats or they do not count. If they have a +, we didn't let them continue on our last max day because they all made big jumps.

I didn't add our enrollment:
Grades 9-12 total enrollment 72. Also, we have more girls than boys right now. I think we have 29 boys in the HS. The next 5 years that trend will reverse drastically.

I'll second that. We have a JH PE period which is athletics- so we do weights year round (after football).

we are a small school - 180 and get about 30 kids out- freshmen top bench 200 - squat 250 senior 305 - 400.
Our freshmen are not allowed to lift in the weightlifting class at our school. The counselor puts them in a co-ed PE to take care of their PE credit - so they don't get to lift unless they can come afterschool.

Is there any way that you could post a clip of your 580 pound squat? Is that a parallel squat, or what we see taught at the other schools in our town? We hear claims of monster squats, a lot of times from incoming students. ONLY 1 TIME IN MY 15 YEARS HAVE I WITNESSED A KID WHO COULD ACTUALLY DO WHAT HE CLAIMED.
Whenever I hear of monster stats like that, throughout a program, I have to call BS. Please prove me wrong. I'll show you mine if you show me yours(hahaha). Let's see if we are comparing apples to oranges, because I think we are.

Coach, I don't have it on video, but that's not a bad idea. It certainly IS NOT a parallel squat, but its close. We call it a box squat. HC has different boxes he makes them touch their a$$ to - hence the name.
He's got an advantage because he's about 5'7/ 280 lbs and his legs are midget-like. HC is alot like you - likes lifts done right. He personally spots all squats and deads to make sure they are done right.
When he took over, kids were using a weight bench for squats -whether they were 6'4 or 5'4. He didn't allow those numbers and made these boxes. Obviously the 5'4 kids weren't real happy about that.
I would assume that each one of the squat numbers on this thread are different and open to interpretation. We test again in 6 weeks, if I can get it on video, I will.

ok Gotcha now. We have much lower numbers, but do only parallel squats without a surface to touch. The most we've ever had was 515. I cannot imagine being able to achieve that with a bunch of kids (at a small school).
I have some film of us squatting from our lift-a-thon this year in Feb. I'll have to cut some up and post it.

Just to brag a bit on our guys... we've actually had 3 kids with 500+ (not over by much...500, 505 and 520) squats at the state powerlifting meet. Two of them were all-conference players in Division II (North Central Conf.- while it was around pretty darn good DII league) and one played DI and is in his 6th year in the NFL. Big numbers at tiny schools are not the norm... but we've had some huge kids here. Our senior w/ 405 did that as a junior. We're hoping he gets 440 this weekend (420 seems likely... 440 iffy). By the way, since this weekend is an AAU meet, I (stupidly) made a deal with them so now I am competing (masters level...just hoping nothing pops out of place that requires emergency surgery... : Note: I will NOT be attempting 500 (on the good side, I dropped almost 30 lbs. to compete in this).

We're single A in PA (smallest class) I think we had 169 boys 9-11 in the last classification.
our top guys: Bench/Squat/Dead class of '10
240/385/475 (165 lbs G/LB) 255/405/500 205/315/465
'11 205/355/425 205/315/400 210/285/345
Basically the was our starting OL last year, all back this year. The last numbers are for our So. LB that started.
