we do a dynamic warm up with our skill players they go out 15 minutes early then the line come out and does their dynamic warm up. We do our Kougar Jacks chanting our mascot. Then we break into a 5 minute offensive individual period, followed by a 5 minute defensive period. Then Team offense for 10, team defense for 10, back to the locker room

OKLAHOMA!!!! OK a while back in a post I stated that when we played our cross town rivals last year we seemed kind of flat in pre game. So after the warm ups and all that good stuff when we came out as a team to the fight song and through the banner we went straight into Oklahoma type of drill. It was a hoot and holier, O vs D type of thing. Even had A o Line coach cut open his forehead from head butting a player with a helmet on. I thought that would be the first and last time of the drill but we did it every game and usually took an early lead.

Longtime college assistant coach Chris Smeeland had a pretty cool old thing he did in pregame--involved staggered lines, doing a stretch, and then sprinting those lines in and out like a weave.

I like the last idea. Oklahoma drill seems a little rough before a game but i can see how it would work at the sametime.

If you plan on playing the game rough, why not warmup that way?
My point is, I hate seeing a team do form tackling at about 1/4 speed where an egg wouldn't crack if it got caught up between the two guys.
If you are going to tackle in the game full speed, why not warmup/practice that way?

Me and another coach were doing a JV game and we warmed them up with the Oklahoma Drill. Fired their butts up ( well the ones that weren't scared). They loved it. Wanted to do it every week.

I agree with going full tilt during pre-game. the entire time I have my OL we go 1 vs 1 drive blocking. Gets the kids fired up and ready to go

We've had production out of ending the pre-game w-u with Urban Meyer/UF's "Circle of Life"!

Five minutes...Enough time for many of the kids to pee and then take a knee (prayer)

we do a dynamic warm up with our skill players they go out 15 minutes early then the line come out and does their dynamic warm up. Then Team offense for 10, team defense for 10, back to the locker room My alma was similar, Skill players take the field 45min early for warms up and few ball drills for backs and kickers etc. The lineman never get on the field for their warm ups they stay back out of sight. This always gave the illusion that we had a very small team for about 45-60min, then the lineman show up under the up rights. We take a split sec team huddle then break out into our excercise lines. Bark out a few jacks and push ups etc. then go into team O, then back out of the stadium until the anthem is ready to be played. Anyone know of the "Cross the face" ? Drill coach would run with us if he thought we was flat or just wanted jacked up prior to kick off.

Maybe my coach re-named the drill, I not sure, I ever seen another school use it. You make a Lineman line and a Skill line. Place 3-4 defenders in stagered row.
_v________v __v______v ___v____v ____v__v ____x__x
Have player X rip thru each blocker until he gets to the last person holding a ball and execute a chest tackle. No take downs and the blockers are not trying to prevent the player X from getting to the RB, Just giving a good pop as he comes down the line. This was something we did at begining of the season practices only, but was added to our pre-game.
