Hi All, this is my 1000th post and I would like to continue what I hope that can become a tradition and publicly thank Coach Huey, the moderators, and everyone on this board. The Huey board has been a Godsend to me both professionally and personally. I am going into my 21st year of coaching and after some ups and downs over the years; I am more pumped up than ever. The guys who post (you know who you are) have given so much to me. I have learned from old timers and from a kid I found out was 16 years old. I still don’t believe it. Your suggestions were battle tested and vigorously debated. I love how a coach can pose a question and get so many different viewpoints. I love they way we can have an intelligent conversation and can disagree respectfully. I moved to VA 2 ½ years ago, there are not too many people around here that I can have these types conversations with. I have taken 3-4 great ideas and adjustments from this board and made them a part of my defensive package, which IMO is a lot. I have gotten too many program management ideas to even count. There is no place else where you can find this type of detailed information. I don’t know what we did before the Internet and DVD’s. I used to love to go to clinics but to tell you the truth; I get more from listening to you guys. For those of us that play by Fed rules, college football is such a different game in many aspects than HS. This board is so much more than X’s and O’s I love how we talk about commitment to program and the boys we serve. I truly think football is one the greatest teachers of life’s lessons and I am glad that you guys are doing the teaching. I also love the old stories and new stories too. Where can you find so many people with so many great stories? I mean there are times when I will literally burst out laughing. Some of you should be professional comedians. When I first started getting involved on the board my wife was a little jealous of the time I spent on the computer. Over the course of time, she saw that talking to you guys made me happy, especially when I would tell her some of the funny stories. She now even asks about how some of you are all doing.
AGAIN, THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU especially to the guys that pm me all the time I LOVE IT
Ps i know the board rules are to search similar posts and I know there are. i was just being selfish and wanted my own thread LOL

My favorite part about this board is not the xs and os at all but discussing things like motivation, discipline, job/career stuff. It fantastic.

Nice post there "Granny Hawkins."
By the way, how did you get so smart with only 21 years of coaching, you're still just a baby.
Your dusty friend-OJW

Yes, sometimes I have to get the nurse to pull the blanket off my legs so I can get my arms up to type. But besides that, she's late with my prune milkshake. OJW

You mentioned program management being a great topic- I'd love to hear you talk more about this, Coach. A guy with 20+ years of coaching must have some idea of how to run an organization.
In all honesty, I believe I'm most confident in teaching concepts, already knowing my coaching style, and having an idea of how to run a team/part of a team (I don't think I ever wanna be a HC). So I'm very interested in the topic of program management.
Just a quick personal question: where did you live before you moved to Virginia?

If you have never been there you are missing out, one of the most beautiful places in America IMHO

I was a speaker at the Indiana Football Hall of Fame Clinic and advised all who were in my room to use this site. You can find anything you need or want to know about football here.
