Jacob Noe's 20-yard field goal with nine minutes left gave Hillsboro the three-point lead. Advertisement Eric Gordon’s 3-yard touchdown run at 3:59 of the second quarter had Hillsboro in front 7-0 at halftime. It was the first time Maryville had trailed in a state final since 2002 when Hillsboro led the Rebels in the fourth quarter. Maryville rallied to win that game. Maryville owns the nation’s longest active high school football win streak, currently at 74. Maryville scored when Zane Winders hit Thomas Shuler for a 13-yard touchdown in the third quarter. The first half was littered with fumbles. Maryville (14-0) gave the ball away its first and third possessions. Hillsboro (12-2) coughed up the ball on its second series.
