When you are evaluating kids to determine what position they should be playing on Defense how are do you determine where to put them? I know that at higher levels a players attributes would make him more suited to play OLB in a 3-4 instead of a DE in a 4-3 for example. If someone could take the time to differentiate between player types in the 4-4 and the Wide Tackle 6 I sure would appreciate it. i.e. the difference between a WT6 DE and a 4-4 OLB. Maybe comparing all the player types needed to fill the positions in those two defenses would help me understand a bit better.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can provide.

It depends on how you play it. In our offest 4-4 the OLBS are athletes, they finished 3-4 in our tackling evaluations and 3-4 in the body control evals. We only run the 4-4 when I coach "select" teams where we dont have any non athletes who have to get plays.
In the WT6 we run on non-select teams. where you find playing time for everyone and you have lots of non-athletes. The DE on the WT6 for us is a pure contain player, he doenst have to be very good, just extremely obedient and disciplined. We do a very detailed postion description and requirement for every position on offense and defense . We then tie the requirements to base eval drills we do in day1-2 to figure out who goes where.
