Oklahoma edged out Texas in the BCS to play in the national championship game. So the table is set, winners of the Big 12 (Oklahoma should beat Mizzou) and SEC championship games next Saturday will play in the National Championship game.
opinion on BCS for a tie breaker, I'm not too fond of the idea.
Bring on a playoff!

Isn't the BCS ranking like the 5th tie breaker for them? When you get so far down the list it's hard to find much that's gonna please everybody.

Other conferences take the teams that both teams played and added the difference of the scores together for the 5th tie breaker, why leave it up to computers, and pollsters who may not know the teams.

One could easily argue against that type of system too. Depending on how the schedule falls, you could be at a disadvantage playing the "weaker" teams earlier in the schedule. You might pull out your starters up 40-0 in the 4th in week 5...but with a championship slot on the line in week 10, knowing you need a certain differential..... Perfect example, OU and TEX vs A&M OU had scored 66 in the first 3 periods vs the Aggies. They didn't score in the 4th. Did the call off the dogs??? Texas scored 21 points in the 4th...bringing the score to 49-9. Did they try to pour it on? More importantly, REGARDLESS of the actuality of those two situations...the opportunity for such issues exists.

Wow.. that would leave several 1 and 0 loss teams pretty {censored} off.. But then again.. maybe you are saying that the Big 12 winner will only play in the championship if Oklahoma wins.. ?

I think that's assuming an Oklahoma win.

If Mizzou wins, Texas will more than likely play the SEC winner for the title. Unless something crazy happens.

That is why we NEED a playoff.
If Oklahoma loses (which I don't think will happen), I would love to see Florida vs. either Texas or USC.

we'll just end this now ... we do not need our 4th annual installment of "we need a playoff and here is my simple solution".... we all know it's about money so we can simply stop right there as no one needs to see your 8-team projection or your solution to how we keep these bowls and let these other bowls serve as playoffs ... blah, blah, blah. BCS just signed on with ESPN for nearly $40 million more than what current Fox deal is paying. So, if you think it's about anything other than money ... sell it on another board.
