Our team is required to wear shirts and ties on Thursdays (pants too wise guys). Every other week our HC doesn't wear his tie because he says he has to teach gym. he teaches health those other days and does wear a tie.... now, I'm not a gym teacher but from what I can tell, they line up in squad lines, stretch, do some running and then play basketball, volleyball or something like that. I told him I walk around my class as much as he does in gym class(in a joking way) but I still think he should wear a tie and "relax" in class. AM I FULL OF IT??? or should he not have to wear his tie

it is a football game not a funeral

Game day shirt for the kids (Polo or T-shirt in school color with school name / football)
Let them freaking relax during the day. We pass out shirts day before, they wear them to school with shorts or jeans.
That's one less hassle you as a coach has to worry about, a tie. Kids love to wear the shirt because everyone now knows they are a varsity FB player.

I hate ties too. The question is however the coach made them mandatory, i support the head coach (as is my duty) and wear the tie but he doesn't sometimes

Either everybody wears a tie or nobody wears a tie. HC included.
I have always found that kind of stuff was pointless- how does wearing a tie and being uncomfortable/embarrassed all day long make you more prepared for football games? I don't get it.

I'd just say something to him "hey dude, I'm not wearing a tie if you don't." what's he going to do fire you over not wearing a tie? If he does, screw it, you're better off not coaching for him anyway. My HC is a generally good guy and the only way I would get fired is not going out for a few cold ones after a win LOL

I always liked wearing the jerseys on gameday. Let the kids be comfortable. they got the rest of their lives to wear suits and ties.

We have our players wear their jerseys at school. When we are traveling, we have the kids change into a team polo to wear before and after the game. We usually stop and eat on our way back from away games, so we like for them all to look neat and clean.

The question is however the coach made them mandatory, i support the head coach (as is my duty) and wear the tie but he doesn't sometimes Do the players have to wear their ties during PE class? If so and the boss doesn't wear one then that's hypocricy. If the players don't have to wear ties during PE then I see that as just being practical.

We have the players wear ties and dress shirts. Coaches wear school polo's. It doesn't help win games but they look sharp in school and when getting off the bus when we travel. We are in a poor area so the coaches and players who have extras shirts and ties bring them to give out to the kids who have never had on a dress shirt or a tie. Our kids take pride in how they look and ask every Thursday "are we dressing up on Friday?" Just my take.....I personally only wear ties for funerals, weddings and interviews.

If so and the boss doesn't wear one then that's hypocricy. If the players don't have to wear ties during PE then I see that as just being practical. Obviously players don't wear ties in PE. neither do regular students in their "regular" classes. I guess I'm really asking... can a PE teacher wear a tie during PE class. Tressell at Ohio State doesn't seem to have a problem wearing a tie coaching his team... You need to know...I do agree it is practical to never wear a tie. Another reason why I hate ties is because.. what do you do if a kid forgets... okay give him a tie... what do you do if a kid continually "forgets" .... seems to me it's just one more rule for a kid to break and to get a coach pi$$ed off

Good one DCOhio.
Why disenfranchise coaches and players by making them wear a tie? The "tie" of the football coach is the Coach's shirt, the "tie" of the player is the jersey. It would seem to me that anything else is pretentious and you know where that got the French.
