Must be nice to be a college coach and have time to come up with stuff like that

It is the craziest sideline communication board I have ever witnessed. I do not even know what makes you think of coming up with something like that

(during the game, the announcers made mention of how this has been impossible to 'crack'....versus traditional signals and callsheet boards)

twenty bucks says it doesnt mean squat. if i remember right, they also signal by hand, so maybe its just a distraction?
just a thought, either way, its a very unique deal

I do not see how you would put that much effort in resources into something that means squat. The board has to have parts that move and can be replaced. Petrino hand signals all his plays in and they just surround him with players when he does it.
Its like something from the dharma initiative.

I think the actual play is coming from the signal one of those boards is either for the blocking or for the receivers route, which would mean all the WR have a wristband. Or like somebody else said it may mean a whole lot of nothing. The last few weeks against Tech and CU i've noticed that each coach only has 3 boards each. There are 6 options on each board which means they only have 36 plays. I don't think that's right so it must not be the straight play.

If you watch the players/coaches with the boards, they appear to have 4-5+ boards each; they select the appropriate board and then display it.

think it also might have something to do with how they hold the board...the coach can hold it up with his hand in any one of the 6 squares which might also mean something.

I'm with that theory. We had big signs (not as cool as OSU) for dummy signals in our playoff game, along with coaches signaling. Only one was live and it wasn't the board.

Aznando That is if each square means something by itself.....now factor in that there might be a pattern to follow with several squares involved and there could be....well.......ummmm.......a lot more than 36 plays! And a lot more math than my Pys Ed. teacher brain can handle!

As the resident DW'er how many ways can I display the following
Off Tackle Right Off Tackle Left Trap Right Trap Left Criss Cross Right Criss Cross Left Wedge
Hmmm. I would only need like 1 board. (and I would still get confused) LMAO
