I wish I had seen this earlier. I'd love to have sent you my favorite 'non' play. Backed up on about our own 4 yard line, I called a wedge and looked off to the sideline as I tried to decide what my next call would be. Then I hear "coach, where do I go?". I look back and find #72, one my minimum play type kids, with his back to the line of scrimmage, with his hands to the sky and near his face. He had played some at offensive tackle in the last series and assumed he was going back out on the field when the offense took back over. The other eleven kids had lined up before he did...so he was the odd man out. Poor #72, there was no way I could send him running off to the sideline in time to get him off the field...I just grinned and called time out. I'm happy the referees didn't hit me with a 12 men in the huddle penalty.
