Taunting or Flag Happy?
True stories
1 - Middle linebacker anticipates the snap count and bursts thru the line untouched, meets the ball carrying fullback head on and the ball pops out. The linebacker scoops up the fumble and blasts 40 yards to the opponent's goal, nobody within 30 yards of him. As he crosses the goal line he holds the ball over his head. FLAG THROWN FOR TAUNTING
2 - Wide receiver runs a 10 yard crossing pattern down the middle and the QB hits him perfectly in the hands. The safety hits the receiver hard and the ball falls to the ground. No catch. The safety offers a helping hand to the receiver and notices that he has tears in his eyes and is in pain, so he says "stay down", a reference to take a knee and wait for the EMS. Ref hears "stay down" and assumes antagonism. FLAG THROWN FOR TAUNTING
3 - The tailback follows his fullback thru the A Gap. The middle linebacker sheds the block and delivers a punishing blow to the ball carrier. The linebacker breaks his wrist on the play and lets out a piercing cry of pain that would make the hair on a coyote stand up. FLAG THROWN FOR TAUNTING

#1 is borderline, depending upon how he did it.
#2 and #3 are no-brainers, and the flag should be picked up.
In PA, diving into the endzone, when judged to be unnecessary to the play, will draw an unsportsmanlike conduct flag.

On the dive into the endzone do they call back the TD because the penalty takes place before he scores?
2 and 3 are just stupid. Sorry but that is just stupid. It sounds like that they were trying to keep the game in check either by keeping the score lower or attitudes.

I don't see how any of the three should have drawn a penalty, but I can see how the refs would have misinterpreted the actions in number 2.

1. Flag 2. Depending on the balance of the game has gone, easily misinterpreted 3. No flag

On the dive into the endzone do they call back the TD because the penalty takes place before he scores? In the games I've seen, the TD was not called back, the penalty was administered as if a player had "celebrated" after the TD.

Last week we're getting beat 21-0 mid 2nd qtr. Game ended 41-7. They score again on a TE pass over the middle, about 18 yards. Kid starts back to the sideline, and then turns and dunks the ball over the goalpost. Gets a flag, no problem, deserved it.
However, as a coach, do you keep playing the kid after that?

1. Taunting 2. Mistake...would like try and persuade the ref otherwise 3. Mistake...would hope the ref picks up the flag after realizing why

Ref's don't admit their mistakes in these parts very often.
Yet, when the other teams OLB sacked our OB and pounded his chest like Tarzan, it's ruled Ok because as the Ref's put it - "he's not directing it at someone'. It's the inconsistancy that gets me riled up.
In our rule book, taunting is not mentioned.
