I have a feeling this is going to be a good game regardless of who wins.

Texas Tech has one player that Texas would probably offer a scholarship (Crabtree).
I pull for the Red Raiders, because:
1. I love to watch the simplicity, execution, and passion of their offense
2. They are the underdogs
3. Mike Leach (need I say more?)
4. My Hoosiers are out of bowl contention
I really do not understand why TT isn't on TV more.......

I love Texas Tech's offense, does anyone know where I can find some info on the air raid?

yeah, go to the passing section of this board and sort by "Replies" and click on any big thread that says Air Raid or Texas Tech or Mike Leach or Tony Franklin or Hal Mumme or Chris Hatcher... ton of stuff on this board about the Air Raid.

TT wins on last second TD.
Tell me, and I know this is nit-picking, but in this win, and in their win over Oklahoma last season, Texas Tech's offense seems to stop attacking after they build a lead.
I know the Oklahoma game almost got away from them last season, and I felt they became conservative at times during this one.........but hell, what do I know?
This is an excellent film to show your QB's for two reasons (talking about Harrell here) :
1. Footwork, and the value of it.
2. How to throw the fade stop on time.
Another thing that really shines is the sure handedness of the Tech rec.'s. Really, those slants and sit down are like long hand-offs because they almost never drop a pass.......amazing.

Damn. I am an A&M fan and I was hoping that texas would win so that they would be undefeated when we played them on Thanksgiving.

Great game... good to see Texas Tech... play some D in the First half and just enough in the second half to win

I wrote a little bit about this game. One of the most entertaining games I've seen in awhile. I'm a pretty analytical guy, but I couldn't help but be a fan as I watched the game. It was just plain good football. smartfootball.blogspot.com/2008/11/guns-up.html

It also teaches the value of tackling. I agree. But also clock management; had Crabtree been tackled they still had a timeout to get the field goal unit on the field. The announcers were acting like Tech had somehow made a mistake by not using their timeout. Had it been anyone but Crabtree -- assuming that guy had caught it -- it would have been a tackle and they would have needed the timeout and gotten their field goal unit on the field.

I know the Oklahoma game almost got away from them last season, and I felt they became conservative at times during this one.........but hell, what do I know? On the getting conservative -- eh, I dunno. I think there was a bit of that with the OU game but last night they just missed some plays. They had lots of opportunities but they dropped passes (I distinctly remember a 3rd and 1 where they *threw* a slant and the guy dropped it) and penalties. The stuff that always kills offensive drives. Texas also was playing a a bit differently. They kept more outside shell and doubles on Crabtree, their DLine played a bit better though they brought fewer blitzes, and as a result they had to focus on throwing screens and inside passes to some other guys. They did this to some success, but couldn't always get into the end zone. To me it was just a matter of Texas playing a bit better and Tech missing some opportunities. I think the kids might have tightened up a bit, but I don't think the play calling was conservative. I do think Leach got into a bit of a rut with first down incomplete pass, second down anticipated run up the middle, leading to 3rd and 10. But that's tough. In any event, I do think Harrell was particularly impressive with his accuracy. The offense is designed so a lot of QBs can thrive, but this guy is a heck of a QB. They moved around, the receivers kept working, and he consistently put the ball on the money. Like all close, hard-fought games, there are breaks that can go both ways. Several plays could have made it very different for Texas or Tech, but it was just a heck of a game.

Several plays could have made it very different for Texas or Tech, but it was just a heck of a game. Definitely not as noticable as the OU game last season. However, for example: (can I use anymore introductory clauses?) Early in the game TT gets the ball inside their 10. I believe on 2nd or 3rd down, they toss a deep fade. Later in the third, again, inside the 10, they run the ball three times and then punt. SA brings up a good point, that may be what Texas was giving, but with the TV angle, I couldn't see that.
