Leach, from all I've heard, it a real strange bird, but Tech fans seem to be expecting more from him lately, and I wonder how long they'll remain happy with him and his quirks.
Hey, if you're losing, ANYTHING is fair game. After the AU vs WVU game a full week of sportstalk radio here was almost solely devoted to The burnt orange Under Armor coat that Tuberville wore on the sideline. Apparently the fact that it had no Auburn logo and was more like TX orange was a major deal, or a "signal" to some. And the fact that Tubs wouldn't allow the sideline heaters to be turned on. "Heatergate" it was called.

He is a strange guy. Very smart and he is just one of those guys that loves the Xs and Os. He loves to coach but is not good at nor does he care to be good with the media and fans.

mike leach is a great guy. he has a dry sense of humor as well. there is a method to his madness.
He and I have shared information for a few years now. he likes the fact that my dream game is to never run the ball and that I believe punting the ball should be banned from the game of football. to me punting the ball is a sign of weakness.

to me punting the ball is a sign of weakness. In these parts (SEC Country) it's a sign it's 4th down, or maybe even 3rd and long. ;D

I also like leach cause we think a lot a like. It is sort of fun to be thought of as the bipolar coach in the confrence. the coach who is willing to do wild and carzy things just for the fun of it.

Leach is a great coach with rather, for lack of another term, rogueish in his methods. But if we all got our law degree and then decided to coach we may all be that way. JMO

Leach is a bird of a different fowl, but that is a good thing. I think the rap of him being not media/fan friendly is off the mark. He is actually one of the most engaging guys in the game. I've visited Lubbock on a number of occasions and he has been an open host. The trick is that he won't talk just to talk. You actually have to engage him on something that is interesting, whether it be politics, philosophy, law, history, or literature. He really is quite a refreshing character.
What's interesting is that for a guy is loves scheming, he tries incredibly hard to take the scheme out of everything. Seriously, when you breakdown their protections you find out that there really is very little scheme - its all technique and matchups.

I saw Leach at the Nike clinic in Tunica back in 2005. Very dry, put the crowd to sleep in a heartbeat. All he did was show plays and what they did. Very good stuff...if you could keep your eyes open.

Good man. After his comments last year about the officiating in the UT game and his appeal of the fine, a bunch of locals started raising money. A few weeks later, with Christmas approaching, Leach requested that the money go towards buying hams for needy families in the Lubbock community.

Did anyone read the story several years back in the ESPN magazine about him when? It was rather funny because he in the middle of the interview started telling a story when he was 8 or 9 and camping in his back yard in Wyoming. I will try to find the article and post it on here.

hey not all of us with law degrees are crazy i think tog has one too My law degree didn't make me crazy, being crazy made me go in to debt for a law degree! Might be the same disease driving my desire to go back and get my teaching certificate so I can coach MS or HS football!

He is a strange guy. Very smart and he is just one of those guys that loves the Xs and Os. He loves to coach but is not good at nor does he care to be good with the media and fans. I gotta disagree with you when you say that he is bad with the fans. I am a recent Tech grad and I know for a fact that the fans love Leach to death. He has brought winning and excitement back to our football team. As long as we are putting up tons of point and not having losing seasons we will be happy. "Coach Leach is the epitome of Texas Tech,” said David McDaniel, a senior from Leander. “Somebody once called us the ultimate rebel school, and that’s what we’re all about. We never let up, and we do whatever we want to do, and Leach is a perfect example of that.” Probably a perfect description of Leach and Tech. Leach isn't into doing and coaching like everybody else, neither or the students at the university. If you have never been to a game in Lubbock and sat in the student section, check it out. It's amazing. The students are bringing whether we have a great team or not because at the end of the day all we want to do is party
