Hey guys, I am wanting to learn more about the Flexbone Option Offense. (I really like it, but do not know the ins, outs and adjustments). What schools would be good to visit this off season to learn about it besides Georgia Tech? This could include high schools or colleges.

flexboneassociation.com is a good site to use
The Naval academy and Air Force have been running it forever and from what coaches on our staff said they are very accommodating

we moved to flexbone this year from being a multiple I team. Best move we made. Our record doesn't show it, but our offense is better and gaining more yards and scoring more points.
Every lead I got towards more info was from the flexboneassociation. Great spot.

I was a Wishbone/Flexbone coach for about 20 years (retired now but looking to coach again). I would be glad to help anyone with what ever they want to know about the flexbone. Georgia Tech is running it this year with first year coach Paul Johnson. The flexboneassociation.com is a great website to learn more about the option game.

Just joined the flexbone association about 1 month ago. It is a great site. It has helped our own offense Pistol Flexbone out tremendously. Great place to learn the offense.

We ran flexbone in college and I would love to start running it but we have one of the best tight ends I have ever seen right now. So I'm looking at unballanced flexbone. Does anyone have any resourses.

Does anyone have any resourses. Navy and Air Force run a lot of tight end looks.... We run about 50/50 with a tight end as well....If you want to know about any our stuff I would be more than willing to share

Thanks guys for the responses. I was just looking for some suggestions for places I could go and set down and talk to the guys about how to install this for the future. If we were to go to this, we would be starting from scratch, and I mean scratch. So we would need some help with everything, linesplits/stance/spacing, etc....
I hadnt thought about Wofford, last year when I saw them play, they were running the triple and the midline against App State, but were doing it out of gun.

Army, Navy, Ga. Tech, Wofford, Colorado College
Air Force has gotten away from the flexbone and moved to a slightly different system.

Not to be the negative one, but has anyone ever won a national title using it ? I've seen it alot, but I'm not really all that impressed

Georgia Southern won a couple with Paul Johnson. They won some before that with Erk Russell and Tim Stowers, not sure if they were flexbone then or not but I would assume so.

Russell and Stowers are flexbone guys.
realdawg - My honest suggestion is to get your hands on all the material you can. Use this site and my site/boards. There are a bunch of coaches on there that are much smarter than I am.
Nobody has ever won a DIA national title with it, because its like Nebraska. Go 9-3 once and the boosters want to fire you. It hasnt really been run MUCH outside of the Academies in BCS FBS or whatever its called football.

Not to be the negative one, but has anyone ever won a national title using it ? I've seen it alot, but I'm not really all that impressed has anyone every lost a national title using it? the answer to both questins is no and to be quite honest a little short sighted as to what the flexbone truely is ... the triple option. The proper question would be more along the lines of can the flexbone be successful in a D1A team (like a BCS conference team)? To say a system of football hasn't won a national title is very base and lacks a good sense of what the system is. Yes, national titles have been won by triple option teams, spread option (basically a modern version of the single wing philosophy), I form, pro-set, west coast, etc...does it make them any more valid? no.

I feel there is going to be a trend moving back to the option offenses and getting away from the spread offense.
If you remember that the wishbone was the forerunner of the flexbone. How national titles did they win?

Whoa easy coach, I 'm just saying I've seen it alot, but never saw a team, win a title with it, that's all. I'm not saying it's a bad offense, or that a Natl. title can't be won with it. Nor am I saying that one never will. I've seen it alot, but I, personally was never that impressed with it, compared to other triple systems, (ex Veer). I can only comment on what I've seen, and am a member on the Flexbone organization webboard.

How national titles did they win? That's alwas going to be the trend in football, what is old becomes new again. 2 Years ago, I never thought I'd ever line up in a Full house T, or a Wishbone. 10 years ago, I thought the Short Punt playbook was a misprint.

I'm not sure really,in my opinion the veer seems to hit quicker , and again I've seen some veer teams light it up, just no Flexbone teams yet..it's more personal experience, than anything. ...again I 'd like to state that's just my opinion, based on the flexbone teams, I've seen. I'm all for it, I like the theory, if I thought my kids could pull it off, I'd give it a try...i'm just not sold on it yet

Veer is a triple option play. You can run veer from a number of formations with the flexbone being one of them.
