You are hired to run "your" system but cannot bring guys in that believe as you do. During the interview process, the guys that will be working for you are asking the questions. When they get tired of you...they go to the boss and your gone. NUTS. If thats the guys that Tuberville wants...make one of them the OC. Why not? Because when they screw up...he'll have to fire one of his boys.

What a strange situation. Boy, am I glad I'm on a staff of guys that I like and get along with. Also, it kind of sounds like he knew what he was walking in on, too.

This is Auburn football...
JK, but Tubberville really should evaluate himself and how he's handling these situations.

I tend to take TF at his word. Some people may not like him, but he is a straight shooter, at least that's what I have sensed during my interactions with him.
You can't blame TF for making a go of it; it's your one big chance to bring your offense into the Show. Moreover, its a challenge to convert non-believers into believers.
That said, Tubbs knows what he has in his assistance. First off all, they are loyal to him and only him. He probably views a lot of them as family. He told Noel Mazzone when he brought him from Ole Miss that he should think twice about accepting the offer, because when the heat comes, he said, Noel would be the first to go. And so he was. He probably knows that none of the guys on his current staff are coordinator material. He gave Esminger and Nall a chance and they failed miserably. Note, however, that both willingly accepted demotions back to their old positions. How often does that happen; that tells you something about them.
I think TF will be fine. He's too smart not to get another shot.

Does not seem as though he won over the right people and perhaps they were looking to get rid of him from the get go.

Tuberville (who I still support...for now) made a criticle error in judgement in hiring Franklin when he never intended to fully impliment his system. Franklin on the other hand, by his own admission, knew the deal up front, and let his ego influence his decision, and I believe in some ways deep down, he was like a woman marrying a known womanizer, and thought by showing off his stuff on the field he could "change" Tuberville. When the asst coaches got to realizing Tubs wasn't buying in, they didn't, and they knew their jobs were safe. From there it was just a matter of time. Also, looking back, Tuberville really didn't know Franklin's system, and assumed it was an option read based run spread offense. Either that or he thought he could make Franklin contrive that type of offense, instead of running the Air Raid. Just basing my opionion on things Tubs said over the last few months, plus things I've heard Franklin System coaches say about what they saw on the field at Auburn, Tubs had visions of WVU or Florida type spread, instead of the Tx Tech or BYU type.

lets be honest here Coach Tuberville is in a great situation. he knows the position coaches will be loyal to him and not the oc.
an OC has no chance at Auburn and Coach Tuberville's record reflects this. Coach Tuberville knows position coaches will sabotouge the OC to protect their jobs in a show of loyality to him.
Auburn will continue to be just an average time until Coach Tub hires a strong OC and forces his position coaches to follow him. It is coach Tubervilles ego which is keeping auburn back.

Tubs has a core of loyal ACs...one of whom I'm pretty sure could't get a job coaching on the field anywhere else, except he can recruit ok. They're "lifer" assistants that only care about staying in their current job, and have no ambition to move up. You're correct, the OC and DC come in knowing they take the full wrap for their side of the ball, no matter who is at fault. Tubs will likely survive this season, but most everybody agrees he needs to clean house on the offensive side of the ball, hire an OC and let that OC bring at least one of his own people, and hire some guys with some fire in their gut to succeed.
