I am making my off-season manual for quarterbacks and I was hoping I could get a few recommendations on a couple of things. 1. Camps to go to. Also Slack if you read this do you plan on having a camp in Arizona or southern California this year? 2. Books or videos that would help a high school quarterback. 3. What other things you include for your quarterbacks to do during the off-season

I'm interested in those things as well, especially a Southern California camp for Darin Slack. I have a kid I would love to send but they (and I) don't have the money to pay for the camp AND lodging so something in the area would be sweet!

I would include a lot of stretching exercises and strength building exercises that are QB specific. I have a power point of exercises that Tom House used to do with his Major League pitchers that I include in their off-season work out packet.

I believe that there will be one in the Phoenix area again this next year, but only Darin tell us when that will be.

We are looking to bring a two day camp to SoCal in early April, 1st or 2nd weekend. We will be in the Fresno area, in early July(6-7). We are looking to returning to Arizona, but it may be a winter Power camp.
Dates and information I hope to have up by 11/1.
Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you there.

Coach Slack and others,
How much actual throwing do you recommend prior to the spring? We have a talented Soph QB, (has been to a Slack camp) and our head guy wants to send him to another camp during the winter. I really do not care for the guy running the camp or his teaching methods. I mentioned this to our HC and he growled back " I just want him to throw!" He is an oline coach and does whatever his brother does who coaches at another school. Any tips for me to try and persuade him or is it all right to have him go?

Throwing at a camp isn't going to hurt, or necessarily help your athlete, but the mechanics input might swing him one way, or the other. It is important to talk your QB through his approach at the camp, and what to be looking for in the way of development, and what to be careful to avoid if you don't agree. Repetition isn't the most important thing, informed repetition is the most important thing. Just because you are in another city, doing the same thing you've always done, just more times than you do it normally won't change a thing, nor will it make you better. IMO, camp attendance should be purposeful and productive for improvement, not just repetition. Just prep the kid for the camp, and honor your coach's wishes. It is his call. He is the HC. If a door opens to discuss it, take a look at one of our winter camps if that would serve you. Good Luck
