First off, I've heard enough about this for a week that I'm about ready to puke. I want to discuss something a little deeper.
To me the issue goes deeper than what happened to get him fired or why wasn't the offense successful. The issue goes back to the head coach.
I can sort of relate to the situation. If you are hired to do a job then you want to be able to do it. I don't think, better yet I know Tony wasn't given full reign. All you had to do is watch and count the screens. They didn't run them. It seems Tony went to Tuberville and asked for full reign and may have gotten it and that ultimately led to his firing.
On the other hand I can see Tuberville's stance. He's the head guy. It's his job on the line. He takes the heat. I'm just not sure that was made clear to Tony. I saw where CoachD (in his everlasting hate for Saban) related the situation of Tuberville and Saban. Both go thru assistants, like I go thru Famous Amos cookies.
I think you know what you are getting with Saban though. He's an a-hole. You work for him. You basically run what he tells you to, minus a few things (there are quotes on him commenting on the new OC's deep passing game) here and there. But you know what you are getting into when you sign up. Or you should if you did your research.
Tommy on the other hand has had the same group offensive assitants since he came to Auburn, minus Ensminger. He just keeps rotating OC's (and DC's for that matter) in there with the same assistants. In this case it seems Franklin was set up for failure.
I guess the debate boils down to micro-management. And the major debate; let your guys coach or manage them to no end.
It's a fine line and I can see both argurments. I will say that it sucks when you are the one being told how, when, where to do things. Especially when they ain't working.
