I currently have a football team that I cannot seam to motivate in any why. I have ripped them, praised them, played them music......... on and on. I cannot get them motivated for the game. We are playing like a bunch of zombies.

I'm in the same boat except mine seem to take every other game off. I read in one post on here about doing some competitve drills during warmups like Oklahoma before the game. i'm going to try that this week. Good luck!

That helped us some this week. We did Urban Meyer's circle of life drill in the endzone before this weeks game and it helped. No matter what, if you are having to do that, you have problems, been there, done that. If it's false, then it is just that, false! If the coaches are having to bring the intensity to the team, you are in for a long year bro.
The bad thing is, the longer I coach, the more and more teams like this I see. I think kids in school are beat down to not be fired up and physical as that behavior is not tolerated in the school, that it carries out on the football field. I don't know, as I'm not a child psychologist, but that is just from my experience coaching in 4 different programs.

Talk to the seniors in a team meeting. Tell them they have " " many game left for the rest of their lives. Talk about all the hard work they put in to get to whre you are at now. Ask them if they spent all that time in the offseason to come out to game unmotivated. If that doesn't work you can do something like this, in one of our team meetings I asked them to write down three things. 1 - Best memory as a kid growing up dealing w/ fb. Could be playing or watching. Lot of kids talked about playing with each other in the backyard or playing catch with dad. 2. Best memory as a High School FB player. 3. What kind of memory do you want to create tonight.
I asked about 8 kids to come up and read what they wrote about. Our kids did a great job. Some of the kids got a little emotional.
At the end of our meeting, I asked the kids, How can't you get motivated to play the game of football? Think about all the great memories you have had in the past, and what memories you can make friday night.
Good Luck!
