It looks like my wife will be getting a promotion and transfer to the Denver/Boulder area next April/May. Nothing is set yet so I'm just trying to figure out what might await us if this does happen.
My son will graduate next June and is looking to continue playing football. He will probably have to go JC before a 4 year, more from age and maturity than ability. His long term is to play at a 4 year so he was looking at the San Jose State, Sacramento State, Cal Poly, level schools. If the family is in Colorado he's willing to go there and play if there is a possibility of CU or CSU, Wyoming, etc.
There are a lot of Juco teams in our area (SF Bay area) but I don't know what is available in the Colorado area. Anyone have any insights on the situation there? Good/poor competition, lot/few of teams, attention from the 4-years?
I'd also like to see what the HS coaching situation is as well. Not HC, but assistant position coach. Any suggestions for approaching schools cold?
Thanks for any input you might have.

Don't know squat about the JC's in Colorado, but not too far away in AZ, there are a quite of few good JC's..Also there are some 4 year D2 schools in Colorado that play in the RMAC conference, something to look into....

No JuCo in Colorado that play football. Just D2 schools and only one that plays in the Denver Area. A lot of kids who are in the same boat from Colorado go to Kansas or AZ. If you have any other questions PM.
Thanks

Thanks everyone, not exactly what I wanted to hear, but still I now know more than I did. I guess I'm spoiled here with 4 schools within 15 miles that play a pretty good level of football.
Any leads on the 4-year schools would be appreciated. Again, I'm just previewing what is there and I'm not necessarily looking for an "in" at the schools.
Thanks again

There is one school, Colorado School of Mines (D2), that plays football in the Denver Area. Then you have the three major D-1 programs CU,CSU and Air Force. In terms of other 4 colleges that are around the state, most are in smaller towns a way from Denver. University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado College in Colorado Springs (D3) Western State in Gunnison, Mesa State in Grand Junction, Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado State University - Pueblo in Pueblo (they are a new program so they might be looking for players). Hope that helps.

Lots of JUCO ball in Kansas, Jayhawk conference I believe. I know, that can be a fairly long drive, but hey, isn't western Kansas known for its scenery?!? :-)

but hey, isn't western Kansas known for its scenery?!? :-) Not really, most folks from eastern Kansas drive to Colorado in the middle of the night. Just so they don't have to look at all that_____________________________. But hey, I live on the east side of the state so I can say that.....Lots of JUCo's though.. Good Luck with your search

Some of the best Juco ball in the nation is played in Kansas and if you like sagebrush and yucca, Western Kansas is quite scenic.....

Here is a link to some JUCO's , www.cccs.edu/aboutcccs/ourcc.htmlI'll make some calls to some guys. PM me your strengths with football,if your a teacher or just a walk on, what your looking for and what you have coached, Maybe a resume of sorts, these may be some questions guys will ask me and where exactly you will reside is important if you have any ideas yet. I talked with several coaches over the summer and a vast majority were screaming for some good coaches. You could pm me your contact info to that will be needed. I'll do my best....
