Their is nothing wrong with it, its fascinates me. But its not revolutionary and its not new.Its a great call by Miami. But it has no legs. IF you cant potty train your child? you shouldnt buy your puppy. Sort of like if you dont want kids, you might not...... well you know. It seems to have legs for the dolphins this year. And it seems they are adding more, yesterday they ligned up in a two back gun (Ronnie brown, ricky williams and Patrick Cobb)and looked like they ran triple option, Ronnie kept it for the score they ran it a few times...never pitched though www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80c5c6d7www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80c540e5

touchdown, I know. The Patriots kept lining up in a no-back with just Kevin Faulk against the Colts (and it was terrible - no deception at all) and the announcers kept calling it the wild cat. Oh well. Announcers in general are terrible.
I was watching the Steelers-Colts yesterday, and late in the game here is how the dialogue went:
Announcer 1: "I really disagree with that, they should have spiked it to stop the clock!"
Announcer 2: "But they couldn't spike it, it was fourth down!"
Announcer 1: "Oh. Well, if it wasn't fourth down, they should have spiked it!"

The announcers who call any direct snap the "Wildcat" formation are the same announcers who call jet/speed sweeps "the end around".

call me crazy and though I am not that old, seems to me like the new innovation "WILDCAT" looks suspiciously like football back before the day of the forward pass...what did they call it back then? Single Wing? Football is circular. What's once was, will eventually be again. Defenses have went with speed over size to combat the increased popularity of the spead offense. Eventually that playing field will even out and offenses will go back to a power running game and maul smaller defensive linemen and linebackers. Then that will even back out and they'll spread it back out again. We ourselves had a WILDCAT package, it defends the same as it would if you had to play against it at the college level. Only popular in the NFL right now because most NFL defenses do not account for the QB as rushing threat, once they get that part straightened out it will go the way of the run and shoot. Couldn't agree more. 1. The power game. We don't worry about spread. If a big, talented team coimmits to running at us, that's a problem. 2. I think the Wildcat is more effective the higher you go in levels. In HS we're used to playing running QBs. If they put their TB at QB it doesn't change very much.
