Our kids (8 & 9 yr olds) came out on fire for the first week, but as soon as the pads went on and they figured out that hitting sometimes hurts and football is hard work, they've started to wane and are practicing flat. I take responsibility for their lack of motivation and am here to seek ideas about how to get them fired up again.
Can some of you provide me with a few drills and instructions on team building activities that will motivate my guys and keep them pumped up about football? So far, I've run the dummy relay and towel drill but haven't run anything else like this lately.
Thanks in advance for your help with this issue!

I have 19 8-10 yo kids everyday at the end of practice they beg to run the gauntlet after we repped the angle form tackling for a couple of weeks we wanted to see who was going to hit come game day . We match all the kids up according to size and aggression that way noone is over matched and then we split them into 2 groups (keeping there runiing distance to a minimum) 2 lines for each group one line faces north and the other south we give one the ball on the whistle they run around there line coming in between both lines and make a good tackle . We coach head placement and overall aggressivness. I t works very well for us like i said they ask everyday if we can do it at the end of practice.
Hope this helps
