My upcoming game is early and so I am able to scout the next 2 teams I play later on that day. I was wanting to know if there is a system I should follow when I scout. As for the key points on Offense should i play close attention to the line at all or just the key players. On Defense I will keep on eye on the DE is there anything else i should play close attention too. It's for a youth football team.
Thanks.

Pay attention to tendencies and formations, I watch the line for pullers etc but most teams the line won't give much away.
Look at depth of running backs on certain plays, some teams give plays away by RB depth, or OL splits. Some teams use bigger splits for run plays and 0 splits for pass plays, etc.
Watching the defense, take a look at the DEs and the OLBs and find out who has contain. Find a way to put them into conflict with your offense. Do not add plays but look at what plays you have that will work to that effect.
