During double sessions we are allowed to practice 5 hrs per day and never longer than 3 hrs at one time. generally we have two 2 1/2 hr practices which includes mandatory down time for water. we water our kids about 15 minutes per practice. we have strict requirements about water and intensity of practice. which are monitored by our trainer (county employee) our HFC must turn in practice plans everyday to cover his butt, the AD's too. During the season we usually go for about 2 3/4 hr to 3 hr and lightening up on thursday.

During two-a-days (we get 5)
Practice 1 - 165 minutes / Practice 2 - 150 minutes All single practices - 165 minutes
During the season - 150 minutes with the exception of Thursdays when we will practice - 110 minutes
We don't coach in Virginia so our water breaks are embedded in our practice plan during activity - Generally, our players can go get water whenever needed and coaches are to send them (by position group) at least 1 x during individual time.

we practice 2 hrs and 15 minutes each practice due to the fact that we have students that from the reservation that live in the BIA dorms (dinner is served at 6:30 no exceptions) and our activity buses leave at 6:30 no exceptions.

We practice during doubles from 7-10AM, and from 5-7:15PM. This is because we have to work around our Sectional Guidelines called the "10 & 5 Rule," up though the last day of August. We are not allowed any physical activity with the players after 10:00AM, or before 5:00PM because of "heat concerns." If we don't double we usually go in the morning only. All our kids live within 10 minutes of the school, so getting them there is usually not a problem, but no buses are provided for summer practices. During the season/school year our academic day ends at 1:55 and we start films/lifiting at 2:15PM, and are usually on the field by 3:15. Practice goes until about 5:15, except on Pre-game days (usually Fridays) where we shut down by 4:30PM

Last year..
we would get to 7th hour about 2:10 and lift until 3:00.. then would pad up and get off the field at around 6:30 or 7..
Last year during doubles we put in 36 hours in 1 week.. That was m-f two 3 hours.. and a 6 hour that saturday.
I had to get away..
this year we will get in roughly 2 hours maybe a little more..

I'm sure there is more than one thread about this in the "archives" but why not one more . My feeling is, don't practice more, practice better. Keep the kids going, keep your coaches going. One of the masters said it long ago - If you can't get it done in 2 hours, you can't get it done. Having said that, we warm up for 10 minutes, and then practice for 2 hours.

Coach, most of the restrictions that were mentioned in the original post are not state regs but probably district or school regs. The AD may be telling them that some district rules are state rules. We used to do that when I tended bar at Busch Gardens. We also have each position coach give water breaks during their periods and allow them to drink when they want during group. We normally practice between 2.5 and 3 hours.

About 3 hours. That includes lifting and film, though. On the field is probably 1:45 or so.

We have the option of 2-a-days but because of obligations of teacher in-service during the day we have on long practice in the after noon.
Start at 3:30 - Conditioning (we blast them for 30 minutes at a time with agility drills, mats, weights, etc, then rotate stations w/ 5 min water break in between; we do this for 3 rotations) 5:00 to 8:30 on the field

We never practice more than 2:15 minutes unless I have to start practice over. That's including warmups.
