Non-Teachers, what do you do to earn a living away from the game? Just curious as to what coaches out there are doing to make a buck.

I work at night in Asset Protection so it's a lot of reports, research, and security type of stuff. It's not bad, but it's not the end all either.

I used to be an HR manager before I got my masters in Education. While doing that, the company I worked for let me leave at 3pm during football.

I operate a Convention Center. They allow me to adjust my schedule to coach in season. I take a lot of vacation and personal time for spring and preseason camp.
Like a lot of others here, I have to put in a lot of time to make up for those early afternoons.

I manage a manufacturing company and work from 6:00am - 3:00pm, leave for practice, and then return to work after practice to make sure 2nd shift is on the right track. I have some very good production managers that take care of things for the hours I am away at practice. I take Vacation for 2-a-days and clinics.

I'm the director of a residential summer camp so after 10 weeks of 100+ hour work weeks I catch up on my time off by leaving work early each afternoon to coach. I also view working with the kids of our community to be an important part of my organization's commitment to the community.

I work for a company that designs and manufactures sensitive detection and monitoring devices for Radioactive and Special Nuclear Materials. I also travel to upgrade and test devices.
There is no guarantee that I will have time off for football practices or games due to the business needs and travels (especially overseas). However, coaches and players support my efforts to fight terrorism.
I attend a local university for Master's Degree in Deaf Education.

I am basically a freelancer. I do a lot of consulting which allows for a flexible schedule. I teach a beginner course via the internet for folks who want to earn a little extra money to supplement their current income. During the football season, I work with Midwest and Eastern time zone folks so that the class times match up with my available times here on the West Coast.

I am a surgical assistant. One time I had to perform an appendectomy on one of my players the day after a game! That was bizarre.

I'm an attorney who owns his own law firm (with another partner). During the season, I go in very early in order for me to leave a little early.
