What is the greatest performance by an underdog you have ever seen? (any level of play)
Mine would probably be Oklahoma's defense hold the 40 something ppg FSU offense to 0 points in the 2000 national title game

Stanford beating USC in the Coliseum last year when they couldn't run and couldn't pass with essentially a JC quarterback would have to be my topper.
The funny thing is I am still convinced that if USC had taken three knees and punted every time they had the ball in the second half (they had a 9-0 halftime lead) that they would have won the game.
John David Booty literally gave that game away with untimely interceptions in the second half.

John David Booty literally gave that game away with untimely interceptions in the second half. Good call. I was actually gonna make this post if you hadn't beaten me to it. Of course, I'm not exactly a neutral observer. I've been a lifelong Stanford fan -- I grew up within walking distance of Stanford Stadium, and in fact I'm going to head down to the Farm this afternoon to watch the Cardinal practice, 'cause I've heard really good things about how briskly run Jim Harbaugh's practice sessions are. But anyway, /because/ I've been a Stanford fan since I was knee-high to a puppy, I view the USC upset with rose-tinted glasses. I can't really argue with anything you've said about the game, though. I /can/ grumble a tiny bit at the "JC quarterback" line, but only a tiny bit. It was hyperbole (and entertaining hyperbole at that) and, hey, Tavita Pritchard really isn't very good at all. Uh... actually, on further reflection, there probably /are/ JC guys out there who are better. Objection withdrawn.

I can't get over how everyone keeps thinking that the App. State over Michigan game was such a huge upset?!? It isn't like App. State was a horrible team, they were the two time defending champs! THEY ARE GOOD...
My vote without a doubt goes to Stanford over USC. USC was something like a 41 point favorite. No question in my mind that this game was the biggest upset I have ever seen.

not being a big fan of pro football, I would have to throw out this past year's superbowl into the mix as well.

November 3rd 2007 Navy defeats Notre Dame in overtime, snapping a 43 yr losing streak. Say what you will about ND not having a great season. I would say that ND talent is much higher then Navy talent every year. This has to be the greatest underdog match up ever.
other one 2007 D 3 championship. on their third try the UW-Whitewater defeat a mount union team which was averaging nearly 550 yds a game on offense. a steady defense which punished the qb every chance they had is what helped spur them on to victory.
1984 orange bowl Miami beating Nebraska.
