And if you do place numbers on the helmets what size do you use?
The 2" high or The 3" high

Sorry but not a 'Bama fan here. I think numbers on the side of the helmets is ugly (personal opinion).

I agree. Not a big fan of numbers on helmets.

I place a small number (1 inch - 1 1/2 inches) on the back of each helmet- more to make it easy for the kids to keep their helmet seperate from their team mates then any thing else. They are most definately not big enough to see from the sideline much less the stands- I view it as a safety issue each kid is sure to have the helmet on we fitted him with and not accidently get it mixed up with another.

Logos one each side of the helmet with a number sticker on the back that is the size of a quarter, as ajreaper, only to make sure each kid knows what helmet is theirs after team pictures or something. Can't really think of another time in which a player would leave his helmet down and not know that it is his.

I believe the intent was more along the lines of the 'Bama look not the common sense approach of the small numbers. I like the small numbers on the back because the focus should be on the team and not the individual...thus the reason I dislike names on the jerseys or single digit jerseys.

i've only used numbers one year - but I did like them. every year we try to do something different and are considering numbers this year. But what I really like was when we went no decals -- thought it looked pretty good with our black helmets.

While at LSU, NICK SABAN used to refer to Alabama as "those s-holes with numbers on the sides of their helmets." LOL!

Exactly! Saban has always been one though, in my opinion.

Exactly! Saban has always been one though, in my opinion. That's the rumor. Some say he wont ever be able to assemble a staff like he had at LSU...nobody wants to work for him unless they're desperate to move up or really need a job.

Saintrad: Never heard a coach who took issue with single digit jerseys?
How come?
