I know you guys have posted this before but I wanted to discuss it again. Who puts their playbook on Madden? Do you think it has any merit? I put some of our packages on Madden and I think it does have some merit. I just wanted to see what you all think.

I have done it and it's a good idea. It's just another way for kids to understand the offense.

Seeing as the more realistic Xbox 360 version has no "create a playbook" feature, I am unable to put any plays to "practice." Grrr.

There has got to be some HS or college that has the abilty to do the following: Go to the computer science dept and get them to do the following as a project... Modify an old copy or Madden (or similar) from like 2000 (working on the theory EA etc wont be protective of an older version) and modify so you can put in any formation you want, any play you want, any pitch, hand-off, pass you want... and also so you can modify the player atributes in any way Thats your best playbook software ever right there...

It is funny that this topic would come up now, because I just recently took an old version of madden ('03) and started playing around with the playbook feature. I put in some of our early pass installs and yesterday tested it on our QB's after the boards session of our meeting. They absolutely LOVED it. They were glued to everything that was going on, all the coaching points, read progressions, etc... much more so than the board session. While I feel that it will never take the place of on the field, I think it might be a great supplement to training the mind for the passing game. Couple of the comments:
"I now really see what you are talking about, coach"
"I am going home and putting in our playbook on my madden game"
I don't forsee using it for the running game, there is no option, jet/orbit motion, trap doesn't work that well, etc... However, I will definitaly use it more this summer for the passing game. Another note, for those that might be thinking about it, we did everything in practice mode, with the QB playing the offense, and I played the defense, controling one of the read defenders the QB was supposed to look at. Near the end, I even tried to trip them up with some zone blitz stuff (we only worked on base cover 2 and cover 3 - I also did defensive playbooks so that I wasn't looking around for what I wanted), and they picked it up much quicker than I have ever seen on the field. Using practice mode allowed me to cover coaching points, and we didn't have the rush of play calling that comes with a game.

OK So I had to go back to Madden 2006 to play with my playbook against the cpu. I am definitely going to put in the passing game. Especially the stuff that I saw this past weekend from the Missouri QB coach. The screen game is tough as well but I still like it to show everyone where they should go. I am going to put more of passing game in shortly. More to come!!!!!

If you can ever get your hands on NFL Head Coach, it also has a play designer feature, exept that you have to start a career, and schedule it on your calendar. My Tennessee Titans are 15-1 heading into the playoffs

Haven't heard... I don't know if that is something that they would be willing to try and market. They are having a hard enough time trying to sell copies of the NFL one... That is why they are giving it out for free if you buy the "20th anniversary edition" of Madden 09.
I was kind of let down that they didn't have the first Madden commercial during the Draft like they usually do. So far I haven't seen any pictures or videos of the new one. I know that the graphics for the new HC game look a lot better than last time from the EASports website...

I read that in the new version of NFL Head Coach will have a play creator tool that will let you create your on plays and formations as well as modify existing ones. You can even save your newly created plays and use them in the new Madden game. You can also upload your plays onlne and even download created plays from other gamers.

Back in high school our coach made us do some special kickoff coverage plays because he got beat in Madden that day on a kick return.

I read somwhere that there is a company that will upload your your pass plays into a computer type game. There a couple of collages that were using it. The QB has to read the defense anf throw to the correct WR.
