If you could have access to the libraries of AFM, AFCA, Coaches Choice, and USA Coaches...........would you use it? ** this is NOT a 'gripe'. Just an observation. Huey can save $40 a month by removing the search button.

I don't use the search feature very often. The topics and the discussions are usually enough to go over what I'm interested in. If you can archive topics and let coaches "search" or sift through the archives on their own maybe that would achieve the same result.

Every time I start a new thread I try the search button. I suck at it. There has been times on other boards that I try over and over with different phrases/words and get nothing. Then someone tells me to try a different word or phrase and a bunch pop up. I know you are a big user of the search button. Maybe you could give us the best way to use it step by step that will produce the best results. What I do is type in what I am looking for and then the only other thing I do is change it to 365 days. Is that the best way? I use to try a lot more days but it seems like it slows way down and I never get results. There has been a few times when I get what I am looking for, so I know I do it right sometimes.

out of curiousity, does the google search of coachhuey.com cost anything? it's pretty "clunky" and awkward, but may be a $ saving uption to just use that instead of the full search feature. again, just a thought

I only use the search function before I post a new thread to make sure I'm not repeating something. I sometimes use it to search for specific information, but there is so much good stuff on here I usually just read what's at the top of the pages.

Why use "search" at all? Just start a thread and seven guys will post twenty different links!

I just ask Brohy to look it up for me. That seems to work pretty well.

One reason that using the Search function is a good idea is because it allows you to get better info. Many of us have been on the boards since the Toby's (the forerunner of this board) days and have answered the same questions for a long time. After ten years or so, a question like "How do you block Power" gets old.
It's a valid question and looking for an answer by all means is commendable. Answering in depth takes time, though. After a decade or so you're less inclined to answer.
If you Search you can find those old posts. They give info you're looking for. If you have a specific question then most of us will be glad to answer.

I like to come into the site and look at the ten most recent posts. If I did anything else I would never get to bed at night.

please do not remove this feature
I believe it is one of the things that make this website so great, let me tell you a story
last October I got bummed out about being a frosh in college and not having anything to do with football. So I decided that if I can't play it then I might as well coach it. So after countless hours of searching for football stuff on the internet, I find coachhuey.com and I said "oh great another forum that will only have like 50 people on it. Obviously I was wrong. Now today (thanks to the search feature) I believe that I could go out and coach a decent team. I have a long way to go and I am not saying that I know more than any of you but I am just saying that without the search feature I would still think that mike leach invented the air raid and only texas tech knows what it really is. Now I know what the air raid is and where it came and what half-slide pass pro and how veer is blocked and etc.. Look my point is that the search feature along with some helpful and patience people practically made me the "coach" I am today. If you are going to remove this great feature then let me be the first to thank you for adding it in the first place and I am eternally grateful

Coach Hueys "SEARCH" will remain...I think that he was referring to getting rid of the Google one.

I never use the Google search on the site, once in a while I use the site's search function. Only when I haven't found what I want.

I use the search feature before I post a thread asking most questions. I save myself a lot of time and get a lot more information by using the search feature.
Personally, I feel that the search feature is one of the parts of this site. It allows me to do quantitative research on most football topics. More people on this board need to take advantage of this feature; ESPECIALLY WHEN POSTING NEW THREADS!!!
If you need more info than is given in the search area, send a PM to coaches that seem to have the answers your looking for.
This will save us another 1,000 "How Do You Defend The Wing-T/Spread/Veer" threads.
