The worst part about these videos.. is people actually take them for face value.. THIS proves that MOST of the people out there do not have a clue.. DO NOT ASSUME that your kids KNOW the rules. Hmm.. embedding disabled by request.. wonder if they are tired of us making fun of them..

We should petition to get those videos taken down.....or send them to my competition as a complete DVD boxed set.

on second thought, i know EXACTLY what i just saw. i just watched a man in a football uniform explaining how to throw a ball into the air, then (in an effort to disorient yourself..... thats a quote!)- spin around while the ball is in the air before catching the ball. boy im in the wrong business

Anytime I can get a kid to work like that when he is by himself its a good thing.. and.. the throwing in the air and spinning around would have some solid reinforcement for when the ball is throw to bad spots and the receiver has to adjust.. but.. the first guy.. come on.. "ride receiver"?? I have to correct about 2 kids a day on this.. maybe they got this from him?

Airraider, I just found about 8 more videos from that first guy!
I could list them all, but check out: "How to Throw a Football as a Running Back":
-and-
"Drill 5: Rolling out off balance with the football":
At first, I was mad... but now I can't stop laughing! ;D

Yea.. I love throwing a "tight sparrow"
The worst part.. this guy probably coaches some youth team somewhere and the first exposure these young kids get is teaching them how to throw a sparrow to a ride receiver.

Guys, I think you've got this all wrong. Don't you realize he's talking only to NFL players. That's the only league with a 5 yard rule for contact with a receiver.

More useful tips from the experts... The second guy is semi-knowledgeable. The first guy, though...wow. Thing is, I really don't know what you could possibly "learn" by watching that first guy...there really isn't anything of substance there.

I don't know who PJ's coaches are/were. But, if any of them have seen those videos, somewhere in America, there is a group of guys sweating about being arrested.

Who is this guy? My Hero... or not I feel like someone should call him, sit him down and go over some stuff with him. Just to teach him some football that doesn't come out of the world of flag football. I feel bad for this guy.

I just.....I just can't believe that this guy is serious. It's too awful to even comprehend that this guy seriously took the time out of his life to make a video like this. It has to be a joke. Even if it wasn't intended as a joke.....it is still a joke.....

Okay, I've changed my mind. I now believe that PJ has never actually played football except on a gaming console or in his backyard.
The throwing ones are the best. I really got a good laugh out of those.
'tight sparrow' '....is many trickery plays.'

The one where he tells the Oline that they have to look back to see if everyone is covered so they can catch the ball is the BEST!!

Its obvious that their screaning process is pretty poor. I am just wondering how PJ went about getting audio visual equipment for his videos. It was obvious by the wired mic and the zoom and pan of the camera that it was not equipment that the average person has laying around in their home.

My understanding is that if you are an "expert" ( ), you register for the site and then Expert Village matches you up with an independent "filmmaker" who is in your area. The "filmmaker" gets in touch with you and films your "expertise" and then posts it on the site. Looks really legit...

Well...I don't see many people here going and offering their assistance. Generally the coaches make their videos for profit...correct?

Well...I don't see many people here going and offering their assistance. Generally the coaches make their videos for profit...correct? I think that most coaches here would have no problem making a free video for most basic fundamental aspects of the game. I don't expect anyone to give away any systems aka Tony Franklin or even Kurt Bryan and his A11, but how to play wide receiver? Surely at least 99% of this board could do a better job than what disaster that film was.

When I saw that you had responded to this post.. how did I already know the tone? I also feel these videos are very irresponsible. If I were to post a video on how to treat athletes foot, and said.. first.. soak your feet in chicken broth.. then I could fully expect to catch some serious flack for it.

As retarded as this may seem viewing, it wouldn't surprise me if there aren't 40 year old versions of this guy on staffs around the country. I'm just saying, that sometimes you just don't know what you think you "KNOW".
You may THINK you are coaching a particular nuance or skill, and while you may have enough (misguided) knowledge to give you confidence, you don't have any meaningful, applicable data to transfer to the athletes.
Now, not understanding basic terms or nomenclature might be a good indication that you are clueless, there are other factors that can give way to ignorance.
PS - anyone know if this guy has any camps I can send some kids to?

At least if these types are on high school staffs.. the kids are usually advanced enough to "know" that these guys do not know what they are talking about.. have seen a few of those first hand.. But.. if this exact guy is coaching a 10 year old team.. those kids might take him as a legit authority on the game and listen to his every word as if it was law.

Well...I don't see many people here going and offering their assistance. Generally the coaches make their videos for profit...correct? When I saw that you had responded to this post.. how did I already know the tone? Because you are getting smarter in your old age perhaps? All I am saying is that I find it sort of humorous that people with actual knowledge feel so free to put down those with less knowledge who are trying to share it. Take a step back, and here is the situation : People with limited knowledge / communication skills/ teaching skills putting themselves out there trying to share that knowledge. People who have dedicated their careers to accumulating this specific knowledge and teaching/communicating this knowledge are sitting high on their horses mocking the others. Just find it interesting. Kind of like if Leach or Mangino went to a local H.S. clinic and started ripping on the presenters. As far as chicken broth on athletes foot...you would only expect to catch flack for it IF you knew in advance that it was not a valid technique correct? I will say that the BIGGEST trouble that these examples display to coaches as professionals is that (and I have said it before) we have chosen a profession where "ALMOST EVERYONE ELSE THINKS THEY CAN DO THE JOB AS WELL IF NOT BETTER THAN US" (Same with officials). That is the problem. So, in that vein, perhaps it would be a good idea for some credible sources to contact expert village, ask them to take such things down, and provide them with suitable replacements.

ask them to take such things down, and provide them with suitable replacements. not to be a whoozit, but can the TOS of ExpertVillage actually do that, though? You / EV would be disenfranchising PJ's or Geoff's endeavors, all because it didn't fit our "expert" views. This IS a good example, though, because as you stated, many people believe that this is all there is to coaching (which is why they believe they could do a better job), take a few cliches from SportsCenter and NFLN, and BANG! you know abouts da "3tech" (without a foundation to reference from). Also, what is the "STANDARD" for fundamental knowledge? Now PJ might be an extreme example, as you raised in the youth (England) thread, coachd - how do you know if you taught all the skills/technique? What qualifies for actually teaching _____ ? I may say "I teach kickslide pass pro", but if all I am telling the kids to do is skip backwards....have I REALLY taught the skill of a kickslide? If my kids are no good at kickslides, is it because they suck, or I just didn't teach the technique well enough? If they are great at kickslides, can I credit myself with teaching great kickslide, even though I really didn't impart any information to them? Who knows. Not to get philosophical or argumentative, but you raise a good point (and so does PJ).
