I agree with not cutting a whole lot. Tomorrow is Monday. So we are gonna squat in the Wt room. We r gonna do pursuit. Install. Indy. Inside run. Team and a speciality period. The one allowance I make is I get our backups a couple more reps. Especially if they return next year.

In NC a lot o teams make it in. Not everyone. But prob 75-80 percent. Teams can opt out. But I think it's a $500 fine. Correct me if I'm wrong.

NC. Coaches drive their own bus. I think I've driven to every game varsity and JV for 3 seasons in a row now. No extra pay. Considered part of your coaching duties.

We drove. But it was about 9 hours. We left at midnight and drove through the night. Took the whole family. In laws. Nephews everybody. Stayed in a condo resort that is a part of our timeshare so we didn't stay in the park. We ate every meal at the condo and packed our lunch to take with us. If you are not doing that I would stay in the park and get one of those meal deals. Bc food in the park is expensive. Kids will have the time of their life. Mine did. You will want a vacation when you get back bc the trip wore you out. My wife is a planner. So we had each day planned as to what exactly we were gonna do. What parks. What rides. What fast passes etc. just a lot of food for thought.

We practice both O and D every day. And have about an hour. We alternate days we go O and D first. Our Tues def practice looks something like this.
Prepractice-warmup. Punt return and KO return. 1. Pursuit 2. Short Yardage 3. Short Yardage 4. Indy 5. Indy 6. Indy 7. 40s and water 8. Inside run 9. Inside run 10. 7 on 7 11. 7 on 7 12. Team 13. Team 14. H2O and switch.
Each period is 5 min.

Our school is celebrating its 50 year anniversary this year. The second year the school was in existence they were 0-10. And didn't score all season.

I agree with the not cutting it crowd. I can't see getting it done in any less time. We have a period clock. We stick to it and the practice schedule strictly. Practice goes by pretty fast.

Between 20-30 minutes of ourselves on Monday. 20-30 min of opponent on Tues. 20-30 min of Special Teams on Wed. A little less on Thursday.

I usually get mine about 30-40 percent of the reps. Usually on the lesser end at the beginning of the week when we are trying to make sure the starters got the game plan. More by Wednesday after we feel the starters know what we are doing.

Scout team sucks. Can't ever get a look. I draw up belly. I spend two hours a week drawing up cards with the correct blocking scheme. Two days ago the scout team ran belly (down) at us 3 times. Blocked the 6 our opponent will be kicking out every time.

Notre Dame stripes are probably easiest to do. Just takes a little measuring. We have a local art teacher who comes and paints our school name in the end zone before the first game. After that we just keep it outlined and fill it in before the games.

1 hr O. 1 hr D. About 15 min in water and conditioning and about 15 min of special teams. 2.5 hrs. Yes we use a practice plan and scripts.

Ours were down the last couple years. But this year way up. Last year a school of almost 1100 less than 70 kids total. This year 65 JV and 48 varsity.

They do fine helping break down the film. I would say they do good even. But drawing up cards they are crap. I just do it. It sucks. But it does give me a chance to look at how we are gonna lineup to each formation and look at the blocking scheme against our fronts.

DC-I tried to delegate. They did a terrible job. I am a control freak and too OCD about practice organization. So I went back to doing it myself. I know it's right and when the scout team screws it up I don't mind yelling at them

25 or 50 yard turns? We did 50 when we did it and used 60 65. And 70 seconds for the 3 groups. Most of them can make those times. Especially if you consider 60.99 as 60.

Got one this week of a scrimmage on a rec league field. It was shot from field level and neither team had on matching practice uniforms. Talk about a cluster.

I don't mind film until the offense walks out done meeting after we have only broke down 2 films. Drawing cards sucks. Most people think DC stands for Defensive Coordinator. It doesn't. It stands for Draws Cards.

We have been at it since last monday. First scrimmage was last night. Thought we gained some confidence and played better as it went. We have to get more physical up front and block and tackle better to have a chance to be better than 500

yea that sucks, sorry coach. We had a kid who wouldnt play much do the same thing monday, and has a starting strong safety break his leg in an intrasquad scrimmage saturday.

Agree you can run all you want. But you can't simulate the pounding of the game. At some point you got to play your way into shape.

Depends on the kid. Our kids who showed up all summer and bust their butts when we ran are ready to go. Our kids who showed up 1/2 the time. Or just kinda jog during condition couldn't make it through a game right now

We have done it where each team plays each other 10 play O and 10 plays D. (if I were the original poster, I would do this twice and the second time around the 2s get 5 reps and the 3s get the other 5). Then each team plays all the others for a quarter with a running clock.
