I was going over some games from last decade and seeing how our called plays matched with what we actually ran.
To clarify we run a ton of check with me on the LOS and a fair amount of if-then situations with QB's who are good decision makers.
When we had a kid that was a second year starter at QB our audibles were at about 70% and those plays were on average +4 yards.
The D's that shifted late absolutely destroyed us on run audibles.
When we had a first year QB our audibles were about 45% and those plays average was about +9. These were mostly check with me. Run strong/ Run weak/ Pass. The pass plays were explosive plays of over +20. The run plays were not awesome.
Two anomalies-
Game 1 - We ran a zone concept 36 times and rushed for over 275 yards. Zero audibles. never the same formation and motion twice.
Game 2- We ran check with me pass concepts 46 times and threw for 340 yards. We only had 5 plays that were ran without a QB check (all of them goal line or 4th down plays).
