I made this for HS assistants only so that we're comparing apples to apples.
If you're a MS/JH coach in a system that's directly aligned with a HS this includes you.
If you get additional stipends for football-related activities such as before/after school weight room or summer conditioning please add that in.

In my district it’s between 1800 and 2800 depending on years experience.

We have a pool of like 33,000$ to divide amongst 10 people (I guess it could be more people I don’t know)

I discovered about a decade ago that the money is in before care/ aftercare if you work at an elementary school. Make about $10,000 extra just for coming in an hour ealry and staying an hour after duty.
Coaching is a % of salary- hs asst is 7% which would be around 3,800 a year.

I currently receive $3000 an assistant at my alma mater where I am a coordinator and Director of Special Ed.
My best stipend as an assistant was $6K in a wealthy area in northwest Ohio
Best stipend as a Head Coach was $7K in middle class Michigan which started at $2000 but gave a $1000 bonus for every year you stayed. I always wondered why only 2 of my predecessors in program history ever made it past 5 years lol
I am ok with the stipend I have now but it comes down to other things like being paid for off-season weight room time, summer camps, etc. It all helps.

For the $5k+ coaches…..where you coaching at? One county I was in, the head coach stipends were 3100!

Mine is 5k+ if you count my extended teaching contract because I’m a football coach so that’s how I voted. If it’s just stipend it’s just under 4K

I voted $4-5.000 but then remembered it's $3400. Doh! Flat rate regardless of years, experience, or duty. Our HC stipend is around $5500 I believe. This is at a school of 600 students in southeast Iowa.

I would make more if I drove a bus spring semester than I do coaching track. Which if they don’t change the stipend for that I may do it next year and let them just be short |

I actually don’t know how are stipends are set up. Mine this year was around $7000.
I was defensive coordinator, offensive line coach and also worked with the subvarsity defense and called it on Thursday nights.
It was a lot of time. I was noting out all 11 defensive players and the 5 offensive linemen practices Monday to Wednesdays and for games. 16 guys is a lot to evaluate and We just don’t have guys that will take the time to watch and note practice on the defensive ball so I had to do it if it was going to be done.
On top of this I did all the defensive stats, all scout cards and practice planning on defense, hudl film uploading, painted the practice field weekly, fed the boys breakfast on Fridays.
I actually enjoy the work but that $7000 stipend just isn’t very much money compared to the job. I legitimately did the work of two and a half average coaches so it feels like the stipend was actually more like $3000.

Mine was in the $4000s this past season, but you get a pay step every year until you hit step 10 which currently caps out around $5000 for varsity assistants. JV/Freshmen assistants make slightly less.

They range from just under $3,000 to about $4,500 (7% of base salary, rising a percent per year until capping at 11%).
Head coach goes up to 17%
I think JV HC makes 12%

I just ran a quick check on our district's pay reporting system, this is my supplement and playoff bonus for what I can find. We just went to this current online system about 4-5 years ago. 1st number is year, then supplement, then bonus.
Year 2018 I was at another school district and we had an extended season b/c of hurricane flooding in the low country that pushed back the playoffs for 2 weeks, we made it all the way to the semi-finals that year, so 6 extra weeks.
Bonus pay is roughly a prorated portion of each week of the supplement divided by how many week the season is.... sort of... kind of.... I really don't know b/c I can't make the math work any way I work it. We get some days thrown in as part of the supplement too.
This SC in a good paying district(s). And this is for an assistant coach, though I had a little extra in 2017 as a DC.
2013- $7584 + $650
2014- $7716 + $2205
2015- $8136 + $2327
2016- $8220 + $3996
2017- $9348 + $1336
*2018- $12,000 + $5000ish*
2019- $8412

In Texas -about 10 k ish for stipend for the year is getting standard--(all sports)-usually 2 sports.

All coaching stipends based on various percentages of base teaching pay. I believe there are three levels to each position. I am at level 3 of football assistant; I get $7500 before taxes.

Our football assistants start at $5000 and increase with experience up to $8000. Coordinators make just a bit more, $5600 to $8775.

The under the table stuff is always a fun topic on the rumor mill. There was a HOF coach near where I grew up who was rumored to have been getting paid $100,000 a year on top of his official salary plus a brand new truck from the dealership every year. Not sure if the $100k was legit or not but I know for a fact he drove up to practice in a brand new F150 every season I made $3,000 to be the varsity HC and my assistants made about $1,800. We only had 5 assistant positions so we used booster funds to pay 2 additional coaches. Here's another fun idea; compare your stipend to the varsity golf coach. My first year as a HC I was making less than half what the varsity golf coach made. I ran weights 4 days a week 52 weeks a year and ran a program of 60+ guys all year round. He showed up for literally 5 weeks in the spring and worked his short game or scrolled Twitter in the clubhouse while his 10 kids dicked around on the course for an hour or so. It's insane that any of us do this |

End of the season if thing went well, coaches would be told to send their wives to a local appliance store to pick out a new fridge/stove/dishwasher. Also, a local car dealer asked the HC coach what his wife did. He said she was a kindergarten teacher. The dealer said, "Send her by the first week of summer b/c I need some help in the office." She showed up and answered phones some and mainly sat around and looked pretty. After 2 weeks, she was let go and her severance pay was the keys to a brand new Ford Bronco. |

My best paying year I got 6000 as an asst. We got paid percentage of salary and years of experience. I almost made more than the head coach because I had more experience than him.
