I've got Name, Year, Position, Height/Weight, and a Hudl link. Our kids put their transcripts on Hudl. Do you guys include any other info?
Right now, I include all kids that want to play at the next level and have varsity highlights. Is it helpful for college coaches to get some kind of heads up at which kids we think could play at their level?
How do you guys decide who to put on your prospect sheets?

When I coached college, I wanted everything you have right now, plus core GPA/test score, any information you can provide on the parents/family situation, and what they want to study. GPA/test score and major are great to determine if they're even worth looking at and family situation is good to know for determining financial aid.
Feel free to put all of your seniors that you are willing to stamp your name behind, as well as any underclassmen that were significant contributors for you. D1s will probably only care about your underclassmen, D2s will care about seniors before signing day and underclassmen after signing day, and D3s will likely only be interested in your seniors, but may be interested in any/all of your seniors. Even if a kid doesn't have a highlight tape yet, you can still include him, but encourage him to put anything together. A lot of D3s will take kids that don't have great highlights, assuming they are good students and good kids. If you know a kid is a problem and still send them on to a school, it could hurt your chances of that college coming back in the future.
The level you project them to go is fine, if you have a realistic idea of where they could play. I saw way too many coaches say their 5'9" DT was a G5 guy and it made me not trust their judgments too often. It's better to err on the side of lower than they are than higher than they are.

The other side of that coin could include the parents of that 5'9" DT blaming you when the kid doesn't get even a D2 scholarship.

I've had to have some frank conversations, specifically with exactly that kind of kid who told me his top choices were USC and Florida. When I asked what his backup was he said, straight faced, "Alabama". Most kids are great when you explain it to them.

Number email address twitter handle GPA / ACT I'll also put down what division or level I think the kid can play. But that might be worthless. I just don't want a power 5 school going through three kids that are d3 kids and miss the one kid that maybe can be power 5.

In today's world unless it is a legacy school, the HC won't be contacted 1st if at all before an offer is made.

Yea. Kinda a pain in the rear. You bust your butt to help a kid get recruited. Call, text, email every college around. Get no response whatsoever. And then later on find out they have been invited for a visit or offered. I don’t see why a response and being kept in the loop is too much to ask.

On behalf of all those coaches (I very well may have been one of them, I recruited your area), I apologize. I definitely tried to follow up with coaches who reached out to me, but when kids were the ones initiating the contact, it was usually easier to just go through them. For every HS coach like the guys in this thread that bust their butts for their kids, there are 3 HS coaches who could not care less if their kids get recruited and aren't gonna waste their time helping them.
