Now that the offseason is here for most of us, what are you all most interested in learning about? Could be about your position, could be x's and o's, could be off the field stuff. Always just curious as to what others are looking into.
For me I'll be looking at some scheme stuff as always, just because it interests me. Relevant to my actual job, I'll be deep diving more into some RB mechanics. I just finished my first year as a running backs coach after being either offensive line or quarterbacks for most of my career and now know what I didn't know about the position going into this year.

We currently dont have an butt kicker TE for the first time in a decade. Looking at other ways to run the ball…We have been a TE based run team since 2007 3 DI TE’s in that time and another kid recruited to play but chose the frat life.
Thinking 2 back 3 WR looks.

Linebacker play across a variety of fronts. I'm not very good at getting kids to play those positions well.

I put the Lou Tepper book on my Christmas wishlist, but will literally order it December 26th if I don't get it. That and as mentioned in the Film Exchange thread, you can get literally any film you want to in Iowa, so I'm going through some semifinal and final games looking for examples of LB play that fit what I want our guys to do.

I've read Tepper's book cover to cover a few times. Our LBs shed and tackle when they get where they need to be. Unfortunately, I struggle to get the average player to be there. Getting the kids to read and fill has been a struggle off and on throughout the years.

Yup.... Big windows popped up but many were hesitant to fill them and make plays. Some of it was lack of aggressiveness, some of it was paralysis by analysis, which we can fix.

Same #1 focus as every year, finding a better way to teach things to our kids.
Position specific, find more drills to simulate game like environments. This was the best thing I did this year but i want to grow here and find other options.
Offensive focus, mechanics and timing of Backfield action. Trying to streamline this as much as possible.

Developing Player Leadership, Teaching Progressions & Better Pedagogy, Special Teams Drills that can be implemented at the high school level, Defending the Option from a 3-3 and/or Tite/Mint front, Hurry-Up No-Huddle Offense similar to Mike Mauk from (Kenton, OH and Glendale, MO)

I've got some great stuff for you for coaching RBs. It'll change your world. Can get this done in two coaching points. Ready? 1. Take handoff 2. Run ball to hole If you want to get fancy you can throw in an occasional "don't fumble". That's how you make an all-leaguer right there.

How to coach Special Teams at the High School level. We bled points by being crappy on specials (Snapper was inconsistant, punter was inconsistent. Kicker couldn't kick deep enough, couldn't cover deep kicks anyway, pop-up kicks were unreliable, kids didn't play hard on punt block or the return).
Special teams cost us points, 1 game for sure and really changed two others - and we had almost no positives other than a couple pooch kicks we recovered.
I need to learn scheme that applies to the (Small school) HS level, I need to learn individual techniques for specialists so I can actually team them how to execute rather than just relying on the kids innate ability and hoping for the best.

Wing-t. Small school Wing-t as in small coaching staff and roster numbers.
Special teams. Any and all things special teams and once again things I can use with a small staff and roster.

I remember a NE RB about 8-10 years ago that wasnt super talented, he said he just followed the coaching staff's instructions to a T on zone runs, no dancing, no freelancing, just ran smart and efficient, and would get solid gains consistently. IMHO RB is the easiest plug and play position in FB. Esp in a running-based offense.

Offense. In particular OL play.
I hope to find a HC opening this year and if I can't find an OC, I would like to know at least enough to get by.

Need a single game rushing record to beat a rival? We got you. Need us to block? We got you. Need us to lead a pretty good team in receiving yards? We got you. Oh, and we don't gripe about touches or playing time. We just go to work. The don't fumble is important though.
