Its beginning to be that time of year again, coaches what are your recommendations for shoes you can wear to practice/games that give some decent support and won't break my wallet?
take care

I have liked Brooks Ghost the past few years. I've heard good things about Hoka as well.

Boombah turf shoes
They’re the only shoes I’ve ever worn coaching.

Years ago I used to wear the old ripple-sole coaching shoes because that was what you did. My last few years I just wore regular sneakers, Nikes mostly because they fit best and were comfortable. Wore an old pair at practice when they were likely to get wet, muddy, or generally messed up. Didn't really see the need to buy special shoes.

Just to clarify. I have worn the Brooks Ghost because I feel they have cut down on aches and pains i.e. heel pain, knees, back.

Does your staff not all receive a pair of shoes that everyone wears for games?

Does your staff not all receive a pair of shoes that everyone wears for games? As an assistant I never received a pair of shoes. As a head coach if I wanted everyone to wear the same shoes I would have had to buy them and never had that kind of budget.

Nike shoes have always treated me right, I really liked the Nike Free that looked kinda like a fingertrap.
I coached T&F this year in a pair of On Cloud that were really solid, happy with those.
Had a pair of Under Armour a while back that I grew to dislike pretty quickly, wore No Bull last year and felt those were pretty 'meh' and shan't be a repeat customer for them.
I have a pair of Hoka's that I wear for my weekly 5k, I think coaching in them would be a solid move.

I coach in Louisiana and in the public school district I am in teams provide coaches with coaching clothes and shoes. I think that’s pretty standard for our state and always assumed that was the case for everyone.

Consider yourself fortunate.

Hoka One One 8s.
I come home from practice and I have zero feet, knee, etc. pain. I'm old as dirt now...these things are gold. Pricey, but worth it.

I was a DC for a 4A program for 2 years and never got a polo at one place. First two years at my current job, I only had a polo because one of the other assistants lost a ton of weight so his 3X's were just insanely huge on him. So, I got one of his extras.

The head coach took me around town and told me the local dealership provided his truck. I was like "Coach, I have had to buy my own coaching polo in the very recent past." He was as stunned by that as I was that he got a free truck for coaching football.

Of course some of those places one year they give you a new truck and the next year they give you the gas to get out of town.

I wear the black leather new balance dad shoes when it’s wet outside. Feet stay dry.
We’re getting some pair of adidas bought for us for game shoes this year. I’ll wear them if it’s nice out but if there’s a chance it gets wet I’m rocking something older because the shoes are going to be white.

I get a couple of pairs of Merrill’s every year. I’m a big person and I need good shoes to make it through the season. Kind of expensive but worth it.

I wear OBOZ to practice. They have a wide toe box, offer good support, and keep my feet dry. They also can take a beating and last.

I switched to Ghosts for running a few years ago and will never wear another shoe again. Eliminates a lot of the aches my fatass was having.
